Open Submission for The Event 2011 The Event is a biennial contemporary visual arts festival run by Birmingham Contemporary Art Forum, showcasing the best in artist-led activity . BCAF is currently seeking projects from artists and curators in the UK for inclusion in The Event 201 1, to take place 21 - 30  October. We have bursaries of £1,500 available for projects t hat will take place in the Eastside district of Birmingham alongside a programme of exhibitions, events and projects by regional, national and international artists and organisations. Central to The Event this year is Symposion, an evening of performance curated by Boris Ondreička of Tranzit.org , with a line up of international artists, theorists and musicians responding to The Symposion, a philosophical text by Plato, concerned with the genesis, purpose and nature of love. The themes in Symposion will be felt throughout the festival and should be taken on board in proposed projects. For more information on The Event and previous festivals please go to our website www.the-ev ent.org Birmingham Contemporary Art Forum is made up of representatives from AAS, An Endless Supply, Companis, Crowd 6, Eastside Projects, Grand Union, Slice, The Lombard Method, and Trove. Application process: The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday 6 th June 201 1. Proposals received after the deadline cannot be considered. Proposals must include the following information compiled into one document: Project proposal (maximum 200 words) Brief biog/CV Indication of project costs Supporting material Please note that BCAF do not have allocated space for proposals to take place in. We envisage proposals will be for temporary , publicly sited work, or that applicants can secure space if needed. BCAF can offer assistance with finding suitable spaces. Bursaries of up to £1,500 are available. Applicants are encouraged to raise additional funding from other sources to support their activity if needed.
