The First major function of the endocrine system is to help balance your body’s processes. Another major function is it controls slower processes too, such as growth and sugar levels in the blood. Third, in the endocrine system there is an endocrine gland. An endocrine gland is an organ that releases chemical substances directly into the blood. Last, the endocrine repeatedly checks your body’s conditions.

DIAGRAM

Hypothalamus-It receives the taste and smell impulses, controls the heart rate, and body temperature

Pituitary- controls development and body growth

Thymus- it keeps the immune system going; it produces T-cells (fight infections)

Thyroid- controls how cells release energy

Parathyroid-controls the amount of calcium and phosphorus in the blood

Adrenals-controls the body’s reactions

Pancreas- controls the amount of glucose in blood

INTERACTIONSThe endocrine system interacts with the immune nervous,

and digestive systems. It interacts with the immune system by helping the body resist diseases. It works with the nervous system by sending hormones to cells. And last, it works with the digestive system by helping the pancreas produce insulin.

Fun Facts

• The endocrine system contains over 30 different glands.

• Being hungry is caused by the hormones in the endocrine system.

• The endocrine system controls the way we grow.• The endocrine system has a hand in almost all

functions of the human body.• Its one of the largest systems in the body.
