what we have in store. We think you are

really going to enjoy it! Please remember

that Friday, November 2016 is a half day for

students, so be advised that students will be

available to sign-out in my classroom after

the program, before the Thanksgiving Lunch-

Conference time: M-F 12:30-1:15p (Please

schedule)

It has been a busy time academically in Pre-K 4.

The children have learned all of the vowels and

the blending of a consonant with a vowel. Please

continue to practice the consonant blends at

home. That would be interchanging a consonant

letter with the short vowel sounds of: a, e, i, o

and u. They have also learned the recognition

and numbers through eight.

I am looking forward to sitting down with each of

you for Parent-Teacher Conferences. PLEASE be

prepared to sign acknowledging that you have

received your little ALL-STAR’s class work, home-

work and graded work thus far. All work you re-

ceive is yours to keep and should remain at

home. Due to the nature of the meeting, I am

asking that students NOT attend this meeting

with parents. (However, I can make accom-

modations if you have no choice but to bring

your little ALL-STAR to the meeting with you.)

Each meeting is planned to afford time for

discussion between teacher and parent of

your little ALL-STAR’s progress, time to see

children’s work, and time to hear a projection

of what the children will be taught in the com-

ing months.

Reminder:

ALL-STAR Parents, Pre-K is really looking for-

ward to you attending the upcoming

Thanksgiving program scheduled on

Friday, 11/18/2016 at 9a. We have

been working really hard on our Pre-K

Conner-Williams’ All Stars

Proud Kinder Teachers Wow!

Can you believe that these are pumpkins? Ms.

Williams and Ms. Woodard’s kindergarten

classes showed out. They created story book

characters out of pumpkins. The competition was

fierce; I would not have wanted to be a judge in

this contest.

This was an awesome event, parent turnout was,

amazing! TDPACS Vickery Campus has the best

parents EVER! Let’s take our hats off to Ms. Wil-

liams and Ms. Woodard’s for an awesome Idea.

First Grade Review

Second Grade in Action

First Grade is on the path to success!!!

It is imperative that you take time to review

concepts with your child that are sent home

via homework. Take time to go through these

concepts and find other fun ways for your

child to master these concepts.

Some Things to Remember:

Tuesday, November 15, 2016: HEB Field

Trip

Friday: November 18, 2016: Thanksgiving

Program (9am) and Family Lunch Day

(10am-12noon)

Friday, November 18th is also an EARLY

RELEASE DAY! All students must be

picked up by 12:30pm!

Parents,

Just a reminder, class starts at 7:45. Those students that

are late are missing important information. Also students are

working very hard thus far. Parents, I would also like to thank

those of you that attended the parent/ teacher conference. I

believe with your support your child will be very successful

this year. For the next six weeks we will continue to work on

multiplication in 3rd grade, so continue practicing at home.

Also, please check your child’s agenda daily for homework,

behavior, and other important information. Finally, if you need

to schedule a conference please contact the school or email

me at [email protected]. I am looking forward to

continuing working you as well as the students.

3rd 4th and 5th grade Math

Parents,

We are wrapping up unit 2 which focused on nonfiction, infor-

mational texts and will begin focusing on other genres, such as

drama and poetry in unit 3. We are continuing to work on using

the writing process, and will put a lot of emphasis on the revis-

ing and editing part of the process in the coming weeks.

This is also a great time of year to encourage some fun writing

activities such as writing about things they are thankful for,

thank you notes, and

notes to rela- tives to catch

up on the last year. Please

make sure to encourage your

child to read everyday.

Reading a book to a younger

sibling, magazines, and of course on

level books are great ways to get this in each day.

Next six weeks we will be doing a sandwich

book project, so please help your child to find a

book that they would love to do a project on.

Details coming soon.

Last, I have seen great improvements and ef-

forts in your student and that could not have

happened without the effort and support of us

working as a team. Lets keep it up!

Ms. Sexton

Hooray!

We have made it through another six weeks

and I appreciate all the work you have been

doing at home with your student.

Please note that homework goes home every

Friday and is due the following Friday, no

exceptions. Also, please be sure that you are

reading the weekly story with your student

each night and if they aren’t comprehending,

there is a comprehension check at the end of

the story. Texas Treasures books will be

going home each night.

There is a sheet in their homework folder

that is to be signed letting me know that you

received their graded work for the week,

which also goes home every Friday.

Please provide your student with a bottle of

water each day.

We are now preparing for Science Day

on November 15, 2016. As teachers we

are always looking for ways to build ex-

citement in our science students.

In this area of testing, it becomes even

more important for us to remember that

the motivation to learn science and to

pursue science as a career does not

come from choosing among answers

Science exciting by
