About experiencing, connecting, developing

You will get out of The Award what you put in. There is the opportunity for you to both grow personally and connect with others, through a range of new experiences. You have the chance to discover your potential. It is not a competition against anyone else, but rather a personal challenge. It offers you the opportunity to focus on your own unique abilities.

What is Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?

The Duke of Ed Award currently operates in over 120 countries worldwide is an internationally recognised development program for young people aged 14 to 25. The Duke of Ed introduces you to a range of opportunities so that you can gain new skills, have new experiences and make a difference to your community and your world.

In 2013 Cerebral Palsy Alliance partnered with The Duke of Ed to offer The Award to young people with Cerebral Palsy so that all young people are empowered to explore their potential and achieve success through participation.

Duke of Ed requirements

Each Award level includes 4 sections – Skill, Physical Recreation, Volunteer and Adventurous Journey or Expedition.

At every Award level, for each Section, you must select and undertake an activity that fits in with the purpose of that Section, for the minimum time requirement specified.

You base your Award around your passions and your ambitions. Cerebral Palsy Alliance can assist you in setting goals in each section to be successful however you need to take as much ownership of planning, decision making, participation and record keeping as possible.

Cost

There is a $100 administration cost to participate in the Duke of Ed Award payable to NSW Office of Communities - Sport & Recreation.

Other costs that are directly related to activities are the responsibility of the young person (or parent) and these will vary depending on the level of support required by the young person.
