Two Rallies a year seem to be the “norm” for us now. I for one, would not want to see us down to only one rally to keep our Association functioning. Last fall’s attempt to sponsor a short notice rally didn’t work out well. A lot of time and energy goes in to setting up a rally, and we as an Association cannot defeat our goals by not supporting one another for the better of the future Association. Over the years we have been to numerous places that we would never have been had it not been for members who chose to dedicate themselves to share their surrounding areas with us. If we stifle the excitement for members to put themselves “out there” in putting on a rally, we could possibly be locked in to the “Target circle” forever! We can’t let ourselves down. Hope 2013 was an acceptable traveling year for all. By the looks of it, 2014 is going to be another memo-rable year for the Association’s members.

A trip to Staunton, VA July 20-25 for the International Rally will start our year off. I am sure the Trustees will lead us to great adventures in the sunny South.

Sandi and I are planning to bring you to the North in late summer, early fall. Tentatively, it will be the week of September 15th to the 19th. We will be stay-ing at the Holiday Inn , Peabody, MA. The rates will be $105.00 plus tax. This facility has ample parking to accommodate all motorcycles and trailers etc. in our own area.

We would like to take this time to invite all to attend. Two Rallies a year seem to be the “norm” for us now. I for one, would not want to see us down to only one rally to keep our Association functioning.

We all have had our ups and downs, goods and bads throughout the year. We have each other and our

friendships over the years to escape to a better time. Hopefully with a “heads-up” we can manage to save and plan ahead to be able to make a second rally.

We are planning a “no little girlyman” rally just north of Boston. Heading back to the 1600’s when a look, a thought, a mis-spoken word could be enough to bring you to being considered a witch! The consequence was more than warming…

Then we will travel up the coast to the Port of Gloucester where “men were men” and the sea was their life. AARRAGH! We may marvel at places where time seems to have stood still…well maybe a few traffic lights have been installed to keep it in-teresting.

Boston Harley is opening a brand new shop this spring. It will be finished by the time we get there. They promised to take care of any of our needs that may occur.

We are looking at a “Sixty Day Out” sign up. so as to finalize accommodations at the hotel. Your commitment is really what is going to make this work.

Be well my friends. Hope to hear from you

Bobby Pavinski 1/10/2014 It is with sadness that we write to say that Bobby Pavinski passed away suddenly on January 10th. Bobby and Sally attended many of our rallies. He was full of fun and enjoyed many good times together with Dresser friends. He will be dearly missed. Bobby joined in 1980

Daniels. Donnie was an active

member of the Association

and throughout the years had at-

tended many of the rallies. He

was part of what is called the

Moose People. For those of us that

travelled with him, he was for us

our leader to and from the rallies. Donnie will be missed

by all that came in contact with him. His smile, his incredi-

ble memory of the rides we took, the stories he had on his

various travels at rallies, and especially his many rides on

route 66 shall be missed by those who knew him.

From The Trustees

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you & your fami-lies that are having medical problems or have lost loved ones. A note from Cassie Many thanks for thinking of me. I often think of friends in the club. I had my 90th birthday in August with a big party, received 82 cards, also 80 for Christmas. I am doing well, live alone and think I could climb on a cycle. Wishing you a very good year in 2014. Cassie Kochel

Joined our association in 1981 with her beloved husband Wayne and enjoyed staying ac-tive in association events and supporting our charitable ef-forts. We know she is happy joining Wayne. She touched our heart when she won the 50-50 at the 30th Rally in Corning NY and gave the money to the young girl with Crohns .

Harley Dressers Christmas Party, Gettysburg, PA, Nov. 9, 2013 Christmas is just around the corner when we get together for our annual Harley Dressers Toys for Tots

Christmas Party in November. This year we had our party on November 9th, a little earlier than other years, and it happened to be the anniversary of the Marines, as well as Veterans Day weekend. We have a lot to be thankful for, and we are glad to recognize and thank those that have served our Country. The Marines’ banquet was adjoining our ballroom, and they broke away from their affair to present colors and then retire colors at ours. Ma-rine retiree Hal Camlin has represented the Ma-rines and facilitated the collection of the toys at our banquet for many years, and handed over his re-

sponsibilities as Marines contact this year to Tom Hazlett. Our thanks to Jim and Jean Gagnon for hosting the party, and for providing handmade centerpieces for each table. Someone at each table wins the centerpiece to take home, but it was of no use to look under the chair ahead of time for the winning ticket, because Jim and Jean had another method to determine the winner. There were 104 attendees this year, and we welcomed new members Stuart and Helen Chronister from Virginia. They ride with Cecil and Linda King who recruited them into our fold. We look forward to seeing them at our 2014 rallies. It was

good to see Jim and Barbara Magura and we missed them in Wilkesboro. They couldn’t attend our rally this year because they were in Europe enjoying a bike tour. Now that is a good reason and we are happy that they had a great vacation. We also enjoyed seeing Earl and Joyce Reynolds, who were also missing from our NC rally. “No dice”! It seems there was a calendar malfunc-tion at their house. As the evening progressed, Santa and Mrs. Claus slipped in and mingled with everyone. They are the highlight of the evening, and the photo ops were great! No one noticed when Santa Chuck (Weishorn) and Mrs. Claus Red (now that’s an appropri-ate name!) disappeared from their table a little earlier. For those than do not know, Chuck and Red have been

Santa and Mrs. Claus for quite awhile, and we very much appreciate their contribution to our party. There were two special ladies that didn’t go unnoticed, with the first ‘initials’ of Jeanie and Donna. I think we were all in awe of their energy and style as they danced the night away, all night long! They were amazing. Thanks to everyone for your generous donations of toys for the Toys for Tots charity. We look forward to seeing you in Staunton, VA in July, and Peabody, MA in September. Ride safe. Eileen & Joe

HOST RALLY COORDINATOR GUIDELINES FOR RALLY PLANNING

Please fill in all the information regarding hotels, attractions and anything else that may be

of interest to the members. Return your proposal to us as soon as possible (one year or more in

advance) if you can. Once received, we will review and discuss your proposal with you.

1. HOTEL & member signup Minimum REQUIREMENTS: 45 rooms Booked & 80 members signed up &

Rally fee paid 45 days in Advance.

2. ATTRACTIONS: this can be the “theme” for your rally. It can also be your GROUP RIDE. It

should have a large enough parking lot to rope off, or be able to secure the motorcycles.

Please consider traffic congestion, remember you are talking 40/60 motorcycles for around

60/80 people. The local Chamber of Commerce can supply maps and a lot of useful

information. We have found that the group sales person at the hotel can be extremely helpful.

3. HARLEY DEALER: They will be our host dealer, that is, to be available to the membership in

the event of a breakdown. They will be listed on the rally flyer.

4. FUN RUN: this could be a poker run, dice run, mystery run, scavenger hunt etc. Please

consider road conditions, and rest stops when planning. You might be able to include some of

your smaller attractions in this, as you are dealing with smaller groups of motorcycles at one time.

5. SCHEDULE: please fill out the tentative activities schedule form for the Rally.

6. OTHER IDEAS: if there is an area event at the same time as the rally, such as a fair, car

show or cruise night, ‘let’ the membership know about it so they can enjoy them.

7 When planning your Rally, please remember, anything that costs money is reflected in the

rally package costs. We want to provide a fun, enjoyable cost effective Rally. As

required by our By-Laws, we as trustees must approve all expenditures. We will work closely

with you and you will not be financially liable for Association funds.

8 Our policy provides (2) Host Rally coordinators with complimentary rally packages.
