syllable, end in ONE consonant and that consonant must have ONE vowel before it. If the answer to any of these things is “no” then you do not double.

Write this downWhen you have a 2 syllable word

and you want to know if you are suppose to double the end…

1. Split the word into its syllables2. Decide which syllable has the

3. IF it’s the last syllable with the accent, try the one, one, one check.

4. If it fits, double.Remember: first syllable has

the accent or the last syllable doesn’t get three checks then do not double.
