I would like to start off by thanking everyone that made the Luau a huge success. I was told the food was great, and the band was also and we made money. Great team work by all involved. Sorry I could not make it. It wanly the second one I missed in 30 years. I hope the same crew does it again next year. Regarding the docks, everything is going quite well. The only unassigned dock left has been given to a floater. If anyone has any issues regarding the docks, give me a call.

The biggest issue I have at this time is the number of boat trailers on our property that do not have GBYC stickers on them. At my last count, there were 10 trailers with no GBYC stickers, 3 with expired stickers, and only 6 with this year’s stickers. The new stickers have 3 digit numbers on them that will allow the GBYC to track the year they were sold. The stickers for summer trailer storage cost $75.00. If your trailer is not in compliance, stickers are available from me or Jay.

If you are leaving dock for several days, please sign out in the dock holders book and give me a call and leave a message regarding your departure and return dates.

The Summer heat is on! Remember these days when its 40 below and we're staring at 3 feet of snow!

I want to wish a warm welcome to our newest staff member and kitchen extroadinaire...(drumroll..) Todd Peot! Todd comes to us with 25 years of awesome kitchen experience. He's doing a fabulous job...let's all make him feel welcome by introducing ourselves, and remembering to tip him accordingly. Todd has also whipped up a batch of his famous Chili, which has been added to the quick menu at only $2.75/bowl. Stay tuned as Todd helps us to make the GBYC Food better then ever!

Clucker Sunday Chicken has been doing well. Its a great way to wind down your week and share the memories and funny stories of the weekend activities. The usual weekly specials are continuing as well: Tuesday Buck Burger, Taco Thursdays....and of course, Thursday Night Happy Hours.

The Luau was one of the best ever! It will forever go down in history! Great attendance, great time and the bar reaped the benefits! Thank you one and all for your help and participation! If you're looking to book a party at the Club, you'll want to do that ASAP since dates are filling fast. A kind reminder that you are not allowed to carry in soda or alcohol to private parties.

Finally, due to popular demand, Beer Buckets continue. 5 beers for $10.

Carry on...~Housemother Raaaaaaaaaaaanday

The July smoker was a good time. I heard Jays' porkchops were great. Next months smoker will be a steak cookout. Watch for details on the bullentin board. Thanks to Scott, Leanne and Pete for running the Luau party and all the volunteers that helped out. With that being said, Autumn Fest is just around the corner, and we still don't have a chairperson for this party. The interclub party is Aug. 11th,signup ASAP. Manitowac always throws a good party, it would be a shame to miss this event. All for now, til next month. gary

Another Green Bay Yacht Club Luau has successfully gone down in history. A big thank you goes out to all the members that made this party a HUGE success! Help with decorating, food, bartending, clean-up and photos was much appreciated and made this one an evening to remember. So many people stepped up to help out ...there are way too many members to mention by name (and we don't want to leave anyone out), but it was definitely a yacht club family effort and we could not have pulled it off without you!

Thanks again, Pete, Scott & Leanne

The Boat Galley – helping you get the most out of your boat’s kitchen

Like to eat on your boat? Sure, we all do. It just adds to the fun! What’s better than eating dinner and watching the sun set over the water . . . or an early morning, watching the birds with a cup of coffee and warm homemade coffeecake in hand?

But turning these visions into reality involves overcoming some challenges in cooking aboard. There’s less space for food and equipment, not to mention less counter space. There may be limited water and electrical power. The refrigerator – or lack thereof – may pose other challenges. There’s no electric mixer, garbage disposal or dishwasher.

Most of us want cooking aboard to be pleasant, a part of the general fun aboard. And now there’s a web site to give you the answers you need, regardless of whether it’s your first time cooking aboard or you’re more experienced and looking for a solution to a particular problem.

TheBoatGalley.com is devoted to helping boaters get the most out of their kitchens. Written by Carolyn Shearlock, a former cruiser, articles focus on practical ways to cook without prepared foods and electric appliances, with foods that store well on a boat. As Carolyn says, in six years of full-time living aboard and cruising, she learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) aboard a boat. And now she’s passing it on.

The Boat Galley isn’t a gourmet cooking site, or limited to recipes – although there are a few boat-friendly recipes. There’s a wealth of information on how to store food on a boat, things to think about in choosing galley equipment, tips on dealing with a temperamental oven or stove, making your refrigerator or cooler more efficient, hand mixing, choosing the right water filter, staying cool in the galley, clearing a balky drain and more – over 250 articles to date and another one added every few days.

The Boat Galley also has an active Facebook group (http://facebook.com/TheBoatGalley)-- asking questions, sharing equipment 'finds' and passing on tips -- that you're sure to 'Like'!

Hi Fellow Members,

Hope summer is treating you well, besides the heat we had to deal with. Thank god some of us have boats so we can hit the open water and cool off. Not much to report on the building which is a good thing. The sides on the pavilion look great and should keep the wind and the rain at bay. Try and keep an eye on the aerators. Especially this time of year they tend to plug up faster because of the algae and debris from storms and heat. Reminder, all decorating changes need to be approved by the building chairman. Thank you.

Well that's all for this month.See ya at the club.

ThanksJohn
