EXPLORE SAN ANTONIOFew destinations provide a sense of place like San Antonio. Here, the bell towers of Spanish colonial missions have greeted mornings for almost 300 years. Mexican, European and Western cultures blend into a unique personality, and in the heart of it all, you’ll find a downtown core with a river running through it.

Much of the city’s unforgettable landscape has grown along the banks of the River Walk where stone paths run aside the San Antonio River connecting hotels, restaurants, and shops. San Antonio recently extended the River Walk to link even more attractions including museums, public art installations, Spanish colonial missions and the Pearl, a former brewery reborn into an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and entertainment.

Famed for Tex-Mex, San Antonio is gaining attention as the nation’s next big culinary destination. From notable restaurants to the new Culinary Institute of America, there’s something to satiate every palate. Plus, over

50 golf courses and theme parks like SeaWorld San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas, make the city a wonderful place for families to tag along.

The Alamo and River Walk are just the beginning. There’s much more to experience in San Antonio.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December: Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias. Experience the holiday serenity of the River Walk as you stroll along the lush banks of the San Antonio River guided by more than 6,000 luminarias.

Museums & Art SceneSan Antonio has captivated people from cultures around the world since the city was first established in the early 1700s. Mexican, European, Asian, African and Western traditions all blend together into a personality that’s uniquely San Antonio. You’ll find outdoor sculptures and artwork, art galleries, more than 25 museums, over 40 performing arts stages and many cultural arts festivals. Together, these artistic attractions make San Antonio one of the top 25 cities for art in the United States.

Historic San AntonioSan Antonio offers visitors a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of early Spanish colonial life in the Southwest. As the first civilian settlement in Texas, San Antonio de Béxar was founded in 1718. And today, many of these early architectural and cultural elements remain, allowing you to see into the city’s storied past. Whether you take a guided tour or explore on your own, you’ll enjoy learning about San Antonio’s historical significance.

The San Antonio Missions - UNESCO World Heritage SiteIn the 18th century, Spanish priests established five Catholic missions along the San Antonio River. The systems instituted by the friars led to an ethnically diverse society that continues to influence our city. Today, the five missions (Mission San Antonio de Valero, Mission San José, Mission Concepción, Mission San Juan and Mission Espada) represent the largest concentration of Spanish colonial missions in North America and have been named a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Family FunPlaytime in San Antonio means one thing: Texas-sized adventure! Whether you’re young or young at heart, big thrills await you at our world-class theme parks and water park resorts.
