Mr. Zak Eipe, CEO, Industrial Technologies & Energy Company visited Middle East College on Monday, 28th March 2017.

Richard Dashwood, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor of Engineering Materials at Coventry University, visited Middle East College on the 2nd of March 2017.

Mr. Malc Walden and Mr. Gurdeep Chayra from the Information Protection Unit, Coventry University, UK, were on a visit at MEC during the period 28th March to 30th March 2017.

Mr. Mohammed Jaleel Helal, Cultural Counselor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Oman, visited MEC on the 30th of March 2017.

Mr. Mark Holton, Director, Group Organization Development at Coventry University, United Kingdom, visited Middle East College on the 16th March 2017.

Middle East College hosted H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Sarmi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Mrs. Jokha Al Shukaili, Director General, Private Universities and Colleges, MOHE on Tuesday, 7th

March 2017.

Health and Safety Club at Middle East College (MEC) organized a Health, Safety and Environmental Gathering on 14th March, 2017 at the MEC Student Hub Auditorium, Knowledge Oasis Muscat. The aim of this event was to develop health and safety awareness amongst the students and staff to create a healthy and safe environment at MEC. It included many activities like a health and safety exhibition, sugar test campaign, road safety awareness, fitness sessions, talents show and quiz competitions to name a few.

To celebrate womanhood and recognize the importance of women in the world, Middle East College (MEC) celebrated International Women’s Day on 15th March 2017, at the MEC Student Hub Auditorium, Knowledge Oasis Muscat. The programme was attended by MEC’s multi-cultural female staff and students. The event was marked by many interesting activities, beginning with an exhibition presented by women entrepreneurs, followed by several shows covering areas such as drama, singing and dancing and other talents, discussion on ‘Women’s Achievements on an International Level’, a fashion show and a Taekwondo show.

Middle East College participated in OQNHE 4th Conference on Quality Management & Quality Enhancement in Higher Education that was held on the 22nd March 2017. Dr. Nihan Inan, Head of Department of Management Studies and Dr. Aaron Paul, Faculty in Department of Management Studies presented a paper titled ‘The Internationalization of Higher Education: Transformation Strategies of the Middle East College into a Total Quality Institution’.

The General Foundation Programme Level 1 sessions at MEC, under the Centre for Foundation Studies, organized a ‘Nations’ Souk Day’ on 23rd March 2017 at the MEC Student Hub, Knowledge Oasis Muscat. The event was organised to project the culture, cuisine and products of different countries and nations.

A workshop on Sustainability and Renewable Energy was organized by Nama Institute for Competency Development and Placement and the Entrepreneurship Office at MEC, on 28th March 2017. The workshop was attended by Keith Stallard, Executive Manager, Water Sector Restructuring, Nama Holding and a number of MEC staff and students. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about sustainability and renewable energy amongst students from different educational institutions in the Sultanate and help them develop innovative and sustainable solutions and projects that are applicable for the society.

Middle East College has become the first higher education institution in Oman and the second in GCC, to be enrolled as a member of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE). The Department of Management Studies at MEC organized a launch event to celebrate this membership, on 27th March 2017.

The Placement and Entrepreneurship Office at MEC and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) organized a workshop on Entrepreneurship presented by Amani Al Balushi, Trainer, SME, on 22nd March 2017. The workshop aimed to discuss the challenges and risks in today’s market and share some techniques and experiences in the field.

As part of its Community Outreach Programme, the Department of Mathematics and Applied Sciences at MEC invited school students from As Seeb International School, to take part in “Fun with Math” activities. The programme included various activities like quizzes, videos of the teaching and learning process applied at MEC and a tour of the MEC campus.

“Together we Communicate” team at MEC organized a visit to Omar bin Al Khatab Institute for the Blind on 22nd March 2017. The visit aimed at improving communication with the local community and offering help whenever required.

Middle East College participated in the Earth Hour 2017 by switching off power for one hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on the 25th March 2017, to carry forward its role in raising the awareness about the dangers faced by our planet and the important role played by the people in saving it.

A group of students from Middle East College received the first Campus Company cheque as support, from Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development Fund. It will be used by MEC students to open a stationary shop at the MEC Student Hub.

• Our students Bilal Hilal Al Rashdi, Salim Saif Al Kharusi and Mohammed Said Al Saadi won the first prize in the Table Tennis Championship for Higher Education Institutions – Oman.

• Our student Hitaf Salim Al Balushi earned Salon Honorable Mention in the “DPW WMC Circuit 2017” in Serbia for her photo (My Eyes Speak).

• Our student Khalifa Omar Al Riyami earned PSA Honorable Mention in the “2nd International Salon of Photography Victory 2017” in Montenegro for His photo (Mixed Color). In addition, he won a GIP Medal and earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our Student Wafa Al Siyabi won the 2nd prize in Best Project Award for designing an educational media package for Royal Omani Police (ROP) (Traffic Safety Institute) in Majan College Technofest event – Invent 2017.

• Our students Zeenat Zehra Syed Asghar Mehdi, Ayman Azam Muhammad Azam, Anurag Surendran, Ghadeer Saif Al Rahbi and Zayyan Rafique Mohammad got selected to participate with their projects in the 1st IEEE GCC SYP Congress 2017 in Manama, Bahrain.

• Our student Ghadeer Saif Al Rahbi won the 4th place in the project exhibition in the 7th Technical Gathering at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) for her project “Management System Based on Predefined Schedule using Control App”.

• Our student Amal Al Dhakri scored the higher score in the Youth Category and won a Medal – Rank 2 in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our student Marwa Al Habsi earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our student Hunina Al Jufaili earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our student Jawaher Al Rahbi earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our student Thuraya Al Sulimi earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.

• Our student Alia Al Rahbi earned Honorable Mention in the German International DVF Photo Cup, Germany.
