  • CLP: Several classification challenges

    • Environment: introducing chronic classification for readily

    (bio)degradables

CLP introduced new classification criteria according to UN

    GHS in Europe

The application of additivity principles of CLP often result

in a more severe classification for eye and skin hazards

when compared to the former Dangerous Preparations

    Directive (DPD)

    irritation/corrosion

Appropriate classification and labelling is essential for

    safe use by consumers/users.

Truly hazardous products must be distinguished from

    regular detergents to avoid:

    • confusion between products’ hazards by consumers

    • ‘Inflation’ of the importance of the hazard pictograms

    • overtreatment in case of accidental exposure

Test data on mixtures have a higher likelihood to reflect

actual effects on man versus calculation
