B.A.- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO DEGREE PLANS?
The Bachelor of Science degree requires more math, science, and or upper level psychology courses, including an advanced Research Methods course.
The Bachelor of Arts degree is a good option for those students who wish to have more flexibility to customize their degree plan with additional general electives.

GENERAL ELECTIVES:
We encourage students to create a selection of general electives, including those from outside of psychology that will fit their career goals, including any graduate school plans.
Suggested concentrations: Counseling, Forensics, Experimental, Health Sciences
FACULTYOur department has a very diverse group of faculty members. Our faculty specialize and
conduct research in areas such as:
Cognition, Social psychology, Schizophrenia, Relationships,
Neuropsychology, Forensic/Legal psychology, Empathy, Anxiety, Generativity and others.
FIRST STEPS
1.Apply to UTTyler and indicate that Psychology is your choice of major. Be sure to declare either a BA or a BS degree in Psychology
2.Your first semester here, you will be required to meet with Freshman advising. They will have you begin taking core classes.
3.Take Introduction to Psychology (PSYC 1301) within your first year.
