What will your stance be????

This evening, I want us to look closely into the question at hand and see if we can’t

clarify the basic issues, revive our faith in the biblical

explanation, and fortify ourselves to give a clear

answer to those who doubt our stance.

The Holy Spirit explains it all in the very first book of the Bible.

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Genisis 1:20-25

But we are facing an uphill battle in society with people that are lacking faith. Many do not even believe in God.

Lee Strobel: “In the popular culture, the case for evolution is generally considered shut.”

Time magazine in a recap of the second millenium in their Dec. 31, 1999 issue under the heading “Iconoclast of the Century: Charles Darwin (1809-1882): “Darwinism remains one of the most successful scientific theories ever promulgated.”

Darwinism is taught in many schools not as a theory but as fact. --It’s reinforced in museums, zoos, and even in children’s cartoons.

Bob Russel: “Evolution has been repeated so often that to challenge it is the equivalent to believing in a flat earth or a moon made of cheese.”

We can not just close our eyes and turn the other cheek if we want to influence others and turn them toward the

good news of the Gospel.

We need to examine the theory of evolution and find the errors and the holes so we can steer people towards the

real truth.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. We start with a simple definition of the word evolution from dictionary.com.

1. any process of formation or growth; development: Change: the evolution of a language; the evolution of the airplane.

2. a product of such development; something evolved: The exploration of space is the evolution of decades of research.

An example would be the evolution of the golf club.

Started with a wooden shaft and heads - now we have titanium.

Evolve or change

There are three terms that we need to be able to understand

1. Macro evolutionWhat Darwinists propound- They claim that life began millions of years ago with simple single-cell creatures brewed in a gooey soup and then

developed through mutation and natural selection into the vast array of plant and

animal life that populate the planet.

2. Theistic evolution

“Intelligent Design, as most readers must be aware, is not creationism. It fully accepts that what we know of the earth's great antiquity and of the interrelationship of species can't be squared with a literal reading of the Genesis creation account. Rather, it asks probing questions about whether natural selection operating on chance genetic variation can explain the development of complex life, questions as yet not convincingly answered by Darwin's modern champions.” David Klinghoffer – Center for Science and Culture

God is the creator of the material universe and (by consequence) all life within, and that biological evolution is simply a natural process within that creation. Evolution, according to this view, is simply a tool that God employed to develop human life.

3. Micro evolution

The occurrence of small scale changes or differences within a species or “kind”

These changes can be attributed to natural selection, artificial selection, and mutation with the power and the

glory still attributed to God

Here are some examples

•There are more than 200 breeds of dogs (same species or kind)

•Dairy cattle can be bred to increase milk production

•Bacteria can adapt and develop immunity to antibiotics

He planned on organisms being able to change to meet the changes in the earth. If

they did not change or evolve they could not survive.

Proponents of macro evolution suggest that DNA similarities between organisms of different species suggests a common

ancestor.

There are 3 billion base pairs in the human genome. That’s the nitrogen bases of A – T – C – G.

•It would take a person typing 60 words per minute, eight hours a day, around 50 years to type the human genome.

• If all three billion letters in the human genome were stacked one millimeter apart, they would reach a height 7,000 times the height of the Empire State Building.

50% of the DNA in a banana and in a human are identical!

Does this suggest that we had a common ancestor OR……..

A common CREATOR!!!

Many of the functions of the cells in the banana and the human are the same. This

would suggest that God used the same mechanisms in both of His creations.

Main problems with macro evolution

1. Where are the transitional fossils?

2. Where did the first single celled life form come from?

Lack of transitional fossils

The number of intermediate varieties, which have formerly existed on the earth, (must) be truly enormous. Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps, is the most obvious and gravest objection which

WHERE ARE THE MISSING LINKS??????

Darwin’s theory suggests that life started as a single cell and continued to morph or evolve into new species over

time.

The fossil evidence suggests that everything came into existence at

approximately the same time.

In summary, the fossil record contradicts Darwinism and supports the biblical teaching that God created all life in their distinct kinds,

even when the fossil record is interpreted improperly from a uniformitarian perspective.

Why are the trunk and main branches of the evolutionary

tree perpetually missing from the fossil record?

The best answer is that they never existed!!!

Where did the first one celled life form come from? The ooze?

Darwinism has no credible explanations for the origins of life. --It only provides speculation as to how life changed and grew through a period of millions of years.

The most common hypothesis in the scientific community, is that life began approximately 3.5 billion years ago as the result of a complex sequence of chemical reactions that took place spontaneously in Earth's atmosphere. In the 1950's, two biochemists conducted an experiment which showed that certain molecules of life (amino acids) could form spontaneously when the conditions of Earth's early atmosphere were recreated in the lab. It is assumed that over time, these molecules interacted with one another eventually leading to the earliest forms of life.

The second set of hypotheses suggest that life began in another part of the universe and arrived on Earth by chance, such as with the crash of a comet or meteor.

Macro evolution also goes against the 2nd law of thermodynamics

Basically the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics says that in any system, energy moves from order to disorder.

Things tend to break down into the less-complicated rather than increase in complexity. - Evolution says that things go from disorder to order rather than from order to disorder

Dr. Walter L. Bradley, retired professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A & M draws an analogy to the Darwinian theory of time + chance + energy = complicated biochemical and mechanical systems this way: “It’s sort of like a printer taking letters out of a basket and setting type the way they used to do it by hand. If you guide it with your intelligence, it’s no problem. But if you just choose letters at random and put them together haphazardly – including upside down and backwards – then what are the chances you’d get words, sentences, and paragraphs that would make sense? It’s extremely unlikely.”

Let us consider Creation

The Bible teaches us that our universe and our lives are not the results of random chance but of a loving Creator

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Gen 1:1

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Gen 1: 26-27

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language   Where their voice is not heard. Ps 19:1-3

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, Rom 1:20

Conclusion

Macro Evolution is ultimately idolatry – it attributes the creative power of God to the forces of nature.
