The Cottage at Fox Quarry is part of a large family estate of over 75 acres. This
tranquil setting was named for the original quarry on the property that was mined by
mules during the Civil War. It is now lush with trees and a home for fox dens, wildlife, and many varieties of birds. The stream that runs through the meadow was
once adjacent to the site of campgrounds for the Lenape Indians. Horses now graze
in that meadow and can be seen in the distance from The Cottage.
The lower level of the Cottage includes a full-kitchen with all appliances and
television, kitchen table that seats four, a living room with leather furniture, cable
television and DVD player, additional sleeping area with cherry sleigh day bed, laundry room, and full bath.
The upper level of the Cottage includes a king-size cherry sleigh bed, sitting area,
television, iron and ironing board, full bath and large closets.
Raised bed gardens, container gardens, and a small vegetable and raspberry garden
are a few of the varied garden areas on the property. A private brick patio and walled
gardens are available for your enjoyment. It is a great walking landscape or one to be enjoyed relaxing on your own private patio.
A carriage house, lovely garden house with pergola attached, and large barn which
houses the owner's woodworking shop are some of the other outbuildings on the property.
The owner's large colonial home is nearby. This property has been featured in R.
Hamer's book, The Four Seasons of Chester County, Chester County Day's Tour of Homes, Bayard Taylor Library's Home and Garden Tour and Kitchen and Garden
Tour, Chadds Ford Historical Society's Christmas House Tour, and numerous garden
tours.
