LYNSI NAUMAN Winter VIA Hike A group of juniors and seniors made it out to Fontenelle Forest again this past weekend for the annual Winter Hike. The hike continues to be a refreshing getaway for students to connect with nature, find spiritual nourishment and meet some new friends. More information on VIA can be found here! 2019 Fall Adventure Retreat Registration opens Apr. 2 Bells of various tones lingered as sage infused the air. Sacred words of reconciliation and healing wove their way around us as we lifted our hands and bowed our heads. Candles were lit, the light was shared, and, in harmony, we raised that light heavenward... The annual Interfaith Prayer Service was held Wedensday, Feb. 6. The service once again provided the Creighton community the opportunity to experience a meaningful and powerful atmosphere of blending the many faiths and cultures of our students. The theme of this year was “Reconciliation: Healing, Justice, Harmony”. The students that shared their faith traditions and helped coordinate the service are a part of the Interfaith Core Team at Campus Ministry. The team will be hosting other events this year and continue to share the diverse cultural and faith backgrounds of Creighton’s students. Taizé Feb. 21, 8:15pm St. John’s Church Meditative Christian Prayer Engage is a program which recognizes that questioning and growth are a constant part of spirituality. This community welcomes all students to share a meal while engaging with faith in a tangible way. This program is open to all Creighton students! ENGAGE Join us for a free meal, conversation with Fr. Gillick, and reflection Tuesday, Feb. 26, 5:15pm-6:30pm in Campus Ministry. RSVP by Sunday, Feb. 24.     Hands of Hope is a faith-based and service-focused program inviting students to go deeper in their faith lives and explore ministry of presence through experience, education, and refl ective understanding.

    Participants commit to weekly service with hospice patients and regular refl ection throughout the academic year. Students do not have to embrace a particular faith perspective to participate in the program, but should be open to faith as a critical component for human dignity.

    Hands of Hope

    Program Components for 2019-2020Hands of Hope participants commit to the following responsibilities:

    • Participate in the program for the full academic year (both Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters)

    • Complete all training and requirements for hospice volunteer service, as well as any additional training implemented by the Hands of Hope Student Coordinators, AseraCare Hospice staff, or Campus Ministry

    • Attend and participate in all Hands of Hope service visits every Monday evening during the academic year from approximately 3:45pm - 5:00pm

    • Attend and participate in all Hands of Hope refl ections every other Monday evening during the academic year from approximately 5:15pm - 6:15pm

    • Attend the Opening Retreat at the beginning of the academic year.

    • Attend and fully participate in a Fall Break 2019 Service and Justice Trip through the Schlegel Center for Service and Justice. (applications must be submitted by April 24, 2019 with a $50 deposit)
