Dear Shaggers,

Hello September!!!

Have you heard the quiet? Do you know what it means?

It means that they are finally gone. Who, you ask? Those

people with the license plates from Ohio, Virginia and the like,

that's who. The Tourists! At last, we have our grocery stores,

restaurants, gas stations, roads and beaches back. Sure, we

love to see them come because we really do appreciate what

they do for our local economy. Without them, many of our local

citizens couldn't make it through the year, economically. But,

be honest. We also like to see them go. Life is a whole lot more

convenient with them gone. What's that old adage about having

and eating your cake?

A couple of other things make September pretty special. For one,

temperatures in the eighties become the norm instead of the

nineties. Playing a round of golf isn't nearly as brutal, particularly

for an old guy like me. Right, Dean? Of course, the other thing

that I am referring to is SOS Fall Migration. Ten days of great

music, dancing and fellowship celebrating a dance and life style.

Even if you are unable to get down to OD during the weekday

activities, the two weekends of SOS offer a plethora of

opportunities to enjoy the festivities. Friday evening, the 16th, at

the OD Cafe, our Saturday night club dance, the

RSB free concert at the Avista, the Guinness Record Dance,

Fun Sunday and Fun Monday are all opportunities for you to join

with fellow club members and new friends to welcome September

and have a great time. Please take advantage and have a great,

safe time!
