Class of 2007ashley Cheney plans to complete her undergraduate studies at Clarkson, majoring in Electrical Engineering. After that, she may go on to pursue her MBA. Cathryn luther-lemmon is an international business/pre-law major at Clarkson. She writes, “After Clarkson, I’ll be pursuing a master of arts & sciences in international relations as well as my law degree.”

Class of 2005Mark reynolds is at Florida Institute of Technology/Center Court as a crew member working in Aviation Management with Flight and Aeronautical Science with Flight.

Class of 2003Nancy Fullman writes, “After graduating from Middlebury in June 2007, I now work as a research assistant at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.”

Class of 2002Brian ricks is at Tufts University working towards a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. His focus is on catalysis and reaction engineering for application in the renewable energy field. lara Tenenbaum is a resident stage manager with Broad Hollow Theatre Company at the Theatre at Elmont.

Class of 2001sean Curtin writes, “I am working as the director of accounting at Massena Memorial Hospital. My wife, Jessie, and I have two beautiful daughters, Lillian and Lucille.” duane davis is a nursing student at Texas Tech School of Nursing. He is currently the vice president, pledge educator, and a founding father for the Texas Tech colony of Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity. andrew Mochulsky graduated from Fordham with a B.A. in political science in ’07 and plans to receive his M.A. in comparative politics/international relations in ’08.

Class of 2000adia Barreau-Griffin writes, “Hey, all! 2007 has been a great year. I got married to a wonderful man, DeAvalon Griffin. I’ve been working with United Space Alliance at Kennedy Space Center, Fla., (as an engineer) for a year in the Fluid/Thermal Systems Design Department. Hope everyone is doing well. Luv ya!” EJ Brown was in touch to say he is working for First Act Studio for Artists building Custom Guitars. Elayna Mellas notes, “I spent three years in Mass. only to be enticed back to Clarkson.” She is working full time at Clarkson as the environmental health and safety manager and going back for her master’s part time.

Class of 1998Esther Barnes shares, “I’m in Denver now, midway thru my first year of residency — I’m still learning tons, everyday something new. Which I guess is a good thing. Colorado is beautiful. Loving the hiking, camping, biking. When I get a chance. Haven’t had a chance to ski yet ... someday. Plan on taking up mountain climbing and kayaking before my three years here are up. Trying to save some money to buy a little house ... so sick of paying rent.” She stays in touch with Elizabeth (hasch) every month or so. “Her son, my godson, Lucas, is seven now, crazy ey? She came to Philly for my graduation a few months back, great to see her.” Esther also talks with Jose (Castaneda) and shares he is doing well. She adds, “Please, please keep me posted about the reunion this year ... I’d definitely love to make it!” dana Bazile is a U.S. Air Force staff sergeant. She writes, “By 2002 I joined the U.S. Air Force which turned out to be an awesome decision. I’ve been very successful in the military, and have managed to go to school on Uncle Sam’s dollar. I have one associate’s degree in avionics technology, another in physics, and I am working toward my bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. I will soon be entering a program where the military pays me to just go to school and finish my degree, and I’ll be commissioned as an officer upon completion. I bought my first home this past May and I love it. Well, I hope everyone else is doing great.” Peter Oneppo writes, “I am currently pursuing my MBA at UCSD’s Rady School of Management. I will graduate in 2008.”

Class of 1997Priya Chatwani is an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell in California. ashley Oland was accepted to the Maryland Bar and is applying to the D.C. bar (taking Del. bar exam this summer.) She is currently clerking with three Family Court Judges and loving it. Melanie redick is a GE operations manager. She writes that she is “living in Miami (and lovin’ it!) and trying to do as little work as possible! E-mail me!” June shen-Epstein writes, “After graduating [from Cornell], I got a job in Ithaca, in the MEMs micro-mirror field, and after a couple of years switched to another company in Ithaca specializing in MEMs micro-sensors. There, I worked with a great team and co-invented a patent for an angular rate sensor (U.S. patent no. 7036372). I married in 2003 and had a beautiful daughter in July 2006. After returning to work when Lilian was three months old, we decided that it was better for me to stay at home with her, and I have not regretted that decision as I see her grow into a wonderful person.”

Notes from the ClassesClass of 1996Oleg abramov writes, “Hi all! I spent the last six years as a grad student at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (University of Arizona), and just received my Ph.D. in planetary sciences. I will soon be moving to Boulder, Colo., to start a research position at the Southwest Research Institute. I am also happily married to a wonderful girl. Check out my photo pages (http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/~abramovo/photos.html) for pictures from many of our adventures!” heather hassell Colbert shares, “I never thought I would find myself back here but after meeting my husband in North Carolina, teaching for a few years and getting married, we moved back here so he could also attend Clarkson to get his MBA. I am at home with our 11-month-old daughter and three months pregnant (we think it is going to be a boy). Being near Clarkson again brings back great memories. Hope everyone is doing well and loving life.” Carolyn Menz is a marketing manager for Dun & Bradstreet. Theresa Phelps writes, “Hi, everyone. I’m still an attorney in St. Louis. But the big change is that I’m now a mom too. Ryan, my husband, and I had a little girl almost two years ago. I can’t believe how fast time goes by. It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve seen most of you. Wow! Hope everyone is doing well.” Cindy stoltz checked in to say that she is doing PR for Columbia Pictures through Fahlgren Entertainment.

Class of 1995Britt Mitchell sends “Greetings from the Pacific,” and writes, “I would love to come back this summer. I’ll try to make it happen and encourage my classmates to come too!” Jennifer stacy is a training and support specialist for RMI. She writes, “I’m back in Georgia, and I got a chance to catch up with Nate Wood while I was in California for work this past summer.”

Class of 1994Jennifer Barber-singh is working at The Scripps Research Institute. Classmate Christopher Garg is an emergency veterinarian in Washington at Seattle Veterinary Specialists. leanne (Belcer) stralka is a clinic manager at PRO Sports Club, and Thomas Vento works as a family physician for Maryland Family Care.

Class of 1992linda Berman writes that she is a family doctor in Rhode Island and a mother of two. She is “happily still in touch with Di, Meg and Al (all of us happily married — who would have thought?).” Megan Corbett is an adenovirus vaccine production manager for Barr Laboratories and writes, “I married a

Clarkson grad and now live in Virginia with my two kids. I got to see allison Woodfruff (had a girl 12/18), dr. diana Nemergut (married and feisty), and dr. linda Berman (two kids) in October when we had our own Schoolie Reunion in Savannah, Ga.! Much fun!” Maclane Key shares, “After spending about a decade in the LA area, I moved to the D.C. area, married and did the whole law school thing. Right now, I mostly do patent law (associate for Bell, Boyd & Lloyd PLLC) in downtown DC.” John Ortiz now works as an integration programmer at Saint Francis Hospital and is married with two children and has a house in the country. Koraly Perez-Edgar is an assistant professor at George Mason University and writes, “I live in Northern Virginia with my husband and two kids.” steven sablan is in Okinawa, Japan, as an operations officer for the 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment.

Class of 1991James Galluzzo is a major in the U.S. Army and is now serving as the commanding officer of the Fort Lee Military Entrance Processing Station. anit Patel is an M.D. and writes, “I got married in June 2005 and we had our first child, Lila Grace, in July 2006.” Margaret Petterson shares that since TCS she was in Taiwan for nine years, built an Earthship, lived in Chile and now in France with a move to Belgium scheduled for August ’08. She currently works as a math teacher and has two beautiful children. Kristen smith stoner is an assistant professor of flute for the University of Florida.

Class of 1990Paul Elliott writes, “[I have been] married since ’93 and have three daughters. I create software with my brother for a living (Northwood Designs), and my wife and I are also professional photographers (Impression Studio).” stephanie Picard Porter was married in 1999 and graduated from law school in 2000. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar and has been practicing since. Talicia raggs is a television writer for NBC. Mohan sathyamoorthy is a fellow in cardiovascular medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Thomas shoen is married (wife, Lisa) and has a future Golden Knight, Cameron MacKenzie Shoen. He is an agency supervisory officer for Daystar Financial Group LLC. Classmate david snow works as an Airspace Control Officer for the U.S. Army and is currently in Bagram, Afghanistan. He has been working as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot, traveling to different locations around the world, and is married to Robyn (Peters) ’95. They have two girls, Chandler and Emily. Chad Thiemann, IT audit manager for Caremark, is “trying to

track down Lisa Smedman and Jeremy Cook.” He also notes that he spent 2004-05 in Iraq with the Army National Guard.

Class of 1989Kay Postel works in Germany at Postel Druckguss as a director and dan smith is a senior technology engineer (VoIP) for Time Warner Cable.

Class of 1988steve (Zellers) algernon notes that he has changed his name from Zellers to Algernon. Joseph arlinghaus is a principal for Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Texas. He writes, “Can any dorm living compare to Rico Vitale in Craig II? Have any of you ever had an address with ½ in it? I loved that little nasty house. It was so cool being close to downtown. I really loved that. I have so many memories, though they seem so distant these days.” lisa (Pelletier) dumoulin is a student and teacher completing her master’s degree in early childhood education. Tom Emerson is a software architect for Gerson Lehrman Group. robin Clark writes that her new name is Edith “Marlowe” Wakeman, and she is a lead information developer for BBS Technologies. scott settlemire is “alive and well on the coast of Maine” and working as a process engineer for FMC Corp.

Class of 1987 stephen Palin writes that it would be “great to hear from the other ’87 graduates.” He is the VP of Integrated Process Systems & Technology for O’Brien & Gere. Marcy Withington is the VP of Finance for MTV Networks.

Class of 1986Patti (alton) smith writes that she is currently homeschooling her five children in Kentucky. Michael Ethetton says, “I’d love to hear from any ex-schoolies!” He is the owner/president of Master Toolworks LLC. ion Freeman is a research assistant at MIT and stephan Magnusson is the director in Denmark of KISO A/S. rose (Finley) Miller is a patent examiner in Virginia for U.S. Patent & Trademark Office/DOC.

Class of 1984 James Ellsworth is a professor for the U.S. Naval War College and writes that he is “married

to Lynne Phillips Ellsworth, a retired Spanish teacher and beloved mother to our five cats and 110-pound Black Lab!” Frank Coon writes, “For the last four years I have served as a naval reactors representative assistant in the Department of Energy (remaining on active duty). I am married and have two children. My oldest, Gloria, is graduating from high school this year and is working on her college applications.” Joe Badger has been working with JBI since 1991 and is now the president. “We test lead acid and other chemistry batteries [and] also run a NAPA store, JB Auto Parts.” He has lived in Genoa for 45 years and is married with a 22-year-old son (2007). “Both my wife and son work for me in the laboratory.” lori Guarino is the owner of VLSM Inc., The Pastry Garden Bakery and Gourmet Ice Cream, and also works part time as an independent territory sales manager for Fluke Networks selling computer networking test equipment in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, N.Y. She has been married to Vinny, a Clarkson alum, for 21 years and has two children Sarah (16) and Melissa (13).

Class of 1980adam lepp works in the Internet and computer consulting business, based in Columbus and Cincinnati, since 1995. He also rents properties in these two cities and welcomes e-mails from fellow alums!

Class of 1979lloyd Buum is a professor at the University of Oklahoma. Jamie Newell writes, “I work for the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Overnight — the agency that supervises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I oversee the Fannie Mae mortgage portfolio business. I also founded a company called VoiceTree.net that provides families with emergency notification services during hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. My children, Luke, Tony and Georgina are 4 years, 2 years and 6 months old, respectively.”

The Gary F. Kelly Scholarship will be awarded for the first time to a member of TCS

Class of 2009. Honoring Gary’s interest in assisting students with special needs and

promise, the $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year to a student for whom

financial assistance is of particular importance and who is likely to thrive in the

nurturing atmosphere of The Clarkson School. In all, 74 donors have contributed to

this endowment thus far, symbolizing Gary’s legacy of service and commitment to

the School. If you would like to add your contribution in Gary’s honor, please contact

The Clarkson School for more information. Thank you to all who have donated

already to make this financial gift possible!

TCs receives $50,000 Gift From anonymous donor for specialized student academic support

Beginning this spring, The Clarkson School will provide special tutoring and mentoring opportunities for TCS

students with unique academic needs and/or objectives. This valuable offering is made possible via a generous gift

to the School by an anonymous donor. The donation, totaling $50,000 to be used over multiple years, will serve to

assist students who are identified as most likely to benefit from individual tutoring and guidance beyond services

typically offered by the University. This gift speaks directly to the philosophy and mission of TCS and is of great

value to our program and objectives. We are both grateful for and inspired by this donation which was given in the

interest of supporting our students to realize their full potential.
