A New West Side Educational Option for Exceptional Children in Grades 3-6
At the Cincinnati Gifted Academy West at Cheviot School, gifted students will blossom in a rigorous environment that is flexible enough to meet the specific learning needs of academically gifted students. Modeled after the highly successful Cincinnati Gifted Academy (CGA) at Hyde Park School, CGA West will open on August 17, 2016 to serve students in grades 3-6. Students currently attending Cincinnati Public Schools, as well as those in charter or non-public schools located within the district, are eligible to apply as long as they meet eligibility requirements.
• Rank at the Superior Cognitive level on a cognitive abilities test
OR
• Score at the 95th percentile or higher in two of the following subjects on the Terra Nova or other standardized achievement test: Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science. One of the two subjects must be either Math or Reading.
Why Choose the Cincinnati Gifted Academy West at Cheviot School?
To develop the “whole child,” education will be complemented by instruction in Arts enrichment and Latin to prepare for the Special College Preparatory Program (SCPP) at Dater and Walnut Hills high schools.
Teachers will design learning experiences to meet the needs of gifted children in all areas — Academic Challenge, Personal Growth and Contribution to Society.
Parent involvement in school activities and enrichment opportunities is welcomed and encouraged!

Qualification for entrance to Cincinnati Gifted Academy West is based on 2nd grade scores on state- approved assessments.
