To disciple a Christ-centered body of believers to be committed
to God and who are passionate about carrying the Great
Commission to the lost in our community.
How Can I Know For Certain I Am Going To Heaven?
We don’t have to guess at this answer.. nor should we just “assume” or “hope” we are going to Heaven. God wants us to KNOW for certain.. that is why He gave us HIS WORD, the Holy Bible, to give us the answer. The Bible says that in order to get into heaven, a person must have sincere FAITH (Ephesians 2:8-9). FAITH can be used as an acronym to lead us to salvation.
F - is for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life and Heaven without God’s forgiveness. The Bible says: “In Him (meaning Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” (Ephesians 1:7a)
A - is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available.. It is available for ALL. The Bible says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “A” also stands for it is not automatic! Jesus Himself, says: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 7:21a) THIS IS BECAUSE:
I - it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to allow sin into Heaven. This is due to the nature of God and the nature of man. You see, God does love us (John3:16), however, God’s nature is also HOLINESS. This means He must punish ALL SIN and the Bible says: “Judgement is without mercy” (James 2:13). Man’s problem is that: “We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). How then can ANYONE get to Heaven where God allows no sin if we are ALL SINFUL?
T - we must be willing to TURN! In the Bible, TURN means to REPENT. Jesus says: “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke13:3b). Repent from what? We must all TURN FROM our sins and our own plans to get to Heaven and instead TURN TO Jesus Christ, and Him only. Because: “Christ died for our sins.. And He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” (I Corinthians 15:3-4). The Bible also tells us “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9). So, the Bible says if you believe God loved you enough to send His Son to be the one punished for your sins.. AND.. If you ask God to save you through the finished work of Jesus.. THEN:
H - you can have assurance of HEAVEN! The moment you trust in Jesus, you have ETERNAL life. This means you can enjoy a personal relationship with Him even now while you are still alive. Jesus said: “I have come to give you life, and that.. More abundantly .” (John 10:10). You will daily be able to enjoy His love, His protection, His guidance, etc., In addition, you would know for CERTAIN that when you died, you would be in a place called HEAVEN for Jesus also said: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:3).
If you would like to receive this forgiveness of sins and KNOW you are going to Heaven.. Then pray: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You arose from the grave. I now ask You to forgive me of my sins and to save my soul. Amen.”
If you have sincerely asked God to save you, then just have FAITH that He has! (and tell a Pastor soon!)
How Can I Become a Member of this Church?
Step 1: You must first accept Jesus Christ as your “personal” Lord and Savior.
Step 2: Baptized by immersion as a public symbol of one’s faith. OR:
If you are already a Christian and have been baptized by immersion then you can be voted in as a member through a statement of faith or by church letter, after attending a New Member’s Class that the Pastor shares once every month.
Step 3: Read and sign our church covenant (found in the vestibule and the Pastor will go over in the New Member’s Class).
Step 4: If you are interested in becoming a member or attending the New Member’s Class, please call or e-mail Teressa Armstrong in the church office (797.2982 or [email protected])

ROCK THE BLOCK is 19 May from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Adoration Worship and The Stephens Family Band will be in concert and we have a special speaker coming. We will have hot dogs, popcorn, and sno cones all for free to the community. Invite your friends and neighbors. We are praying that we will have close to 500 people here that day, so we need several volunteers. If you are able to help with this event please sign the volunteer sheet in your S.S. class or see Alyssa Garvin.
We are so excited about some up-
coming events to reach out to the
people on Pineshadow Dr. We al-
ready have team leaders and they
each need teams, so start praying about on which of the follow-
ing God wants you to serve: Rock The Block (and other upcom-
ing block parties), Home Bible Studies, Movie Night, Clothing/School Supplies Drive, Marriage Enrichment Seminar, Baby Showers, Neighborhood Blitz, Pancake Breakfast. There are
some others in the works, possibly: Financial Peace Class, Tax Assistance, and Parents Night Out (for Christmas shopping).
Call the church office or see Teressa for more information.
Some of our Southern Baptist Pastors have served in smaller churches and received very little or no pay. Most worked where there were no retirement benefits. Most retired pastors,
missionaries, and lay leaders are living on a very limited income and struggle to make ends meet. We will be receiving an offering (envelopes can be found in the pew back) from Mother’s Day through Father’s Day to assist these servants of God. Please make your check out to Baptist Foundation of SC-Mother’s Day. If you include it in your regular offering envelope please designated for “Mother’s Day Offering”. For more information go to www.scbma.com or call 803.227.6058.
Every year on Mother’s Day we do a Parent/Child Dedication service. This
service is for parents who wish to dedicate themselves to raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord to do so publicly. If you wish to do this (usually children 12 and younger) please call the church office (797.2982) as soon as possible so we can get invitations out to family and friends and buy the gifts for each child.
We are collecting highlighters and
fun size m&ms for the School
Ministry. Due by 6 May. If you
have any questions see Tina Phillips.
