Mike will also be the star of the show for Breakfast with Santa, cookie decorating, and other events at Lollipop Station around the holidays. Welcome back Mike! R W Kilby Wire and Water employees Aaron Boxley, Alan Boxley, Daniel Dutter, Jonathan Henshaw,Jay Murray, George Settle, Sharon Kilby, and Bo Kilby recently completed the American Red Cross re-certification course in CPR, AED, and First Aid. Employees also reviewed Hazard Communications and Bloodborne Pathogen training. CFC Farm and Home Center employees participated in the Soap Box Derby Piedmont Downhill Corporate Challenge at the Paul Bates Raceway on Nov. 14. They “tricked out” a classic Soap Box Derby car for the event to look like an ear of corn! Virginia Broadband is pleased to be a new member of the Virginia members in the news Agribusiness Council working with local farmers as they use 21st century Internet technology to run their businesses. Yes, cows need Internet too of course…to monitor their living conditions and milk production. Four staff members of Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center recently received the mediator recertification from the Supreme Court of Virginia. They are: Mereym Grammick, Marlene Hahn, Susan Lease-Trevathan and Lawrie Parker. Tim Carlson of Studio C Photography has just finished working with Virginia One Church One Child as their guest photographer. The Virginia based group uses the photographs as head shots and action images to aid in the adoption process of the children. Our best wishes go out to each child and their prospective new families! CFC Farm & Home Center customers participated in a fundraiser to benefit the Orange County Animal Shelter. Customers were challenged to purchase $1,000 dollars of CFC Gift Cards that would be matched with a $1,000 contribution from CFC Farm & Home Center. Customers purchased $1,150 worth of gift cards. CFC donated $1,000 worth of dog food bringing the total value to the animal shelter of $2,150. Faye’s Office Supply would like to congratulate Ronnie Wray, their Outside Sales Rep, on his 7-year anniversary with Faye’s. Thank you Ronnie for being a part of our team! Liberty Tax Service would like to announce that Bill Glenz is now a Licensed Virginia Health and Life Insurance Agent. He is also an agent on the Federally Facilitated Health Insurance Exchange. Dogwood Village of Orange County would like to recognize our volunteers for their contributions to the facility. We have about 100 volunteers who contribute thousands of hours yearly. Blue Ridge Chorale is pleased to announce that their youth chorale performed at the State Theatre of Culpeper on Nov. 7 with Elisabeth Von Trapp. Elisabeth is the granddaughter of the late Georg Von Trapp of Stowe, Vermont and about whom the movie Sound of Music was based. Participating in the annual CLEAN GULF Conference in New Orleans this month, EMSI hosted an exhibition booth to highlight their product and training offerings. CLEAN GULF covers spill preparedness and response topics for the exploration and production, transportation, and storage of oil and hazardous materials. It provides a forum for responders, operators, regulators, equipment providers and environmental groups to openly discuss best practices and lessons-learned. Germanna Community College President David A. Sam has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize award for literature from small publishing houses for his poem, “Taconic Orogeny,” which was printed in the Vine Leaves Literary Journal. Sales of his book of poems, “Memories in Clay, Dreams of Wolves,” benefit the GCC Educational Foundation. The Culpeper County Education Association (CCEA), a new member of the Chamber, is celebrating the recognition of teachers during "American Education Week," November 16-20. Throughout the week, all CCPS staff will be treated to a variety of things, such as a rose with a note attached, a breakfast for the transportation department, and a social event on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Buffalo Wild Wings. Shear Artistry celebrates their 20 year anniversary this month; both Pamela Glascock and Michael Jenkins have proven their dedication to the industry of beauty care and have been with Shear Artistry since its opening in 1995. Shear Artistry continues to provide professional service with exceptional customer care by all of its employees. Acti-Kare Responsive In-Home Care would like to welcome Mike Unger as their new staff RN and Judy Chess as their new staff LPN. Culpeper Christian School welcomed two new teachers this fall to bring its total staff count to 34. Abby Lenon, who holds a master’s degree from Drexel University, became CCS’s fourth grade teacher and is now leading her class of 17 students with spiritual maturity, creativity, and a joy for learning. David Peets, formerly a public school teacher in Greenville, SC, is CCS’s new, fluent, middle school Spanish teacher. CCS, whose mission is to build academic excellence on the Word of God, serves 180 students from six counties. The Blue Ridge Chorale has designated Section Leaders. Geniene Zinn (altos), Lisa Zinn (sopranos) and Martha Smith (tenors and basses) to work with the members in their section and represent their section to the Chorale Board.
