Hooding, Awards, and Commencement

Congratulations to the Class of 2019! The UMB Commencement was held on Thursday, May 16th and the PTRS annual Hooding and Awards Ceremony was held on the morning of Friday, May 17th, 2019. The Master of Ceremonies for the PTRS Hooding and Awards Ceremony was Douglas Savin, PT, PhD, Assistant Professor. Dr. Savin was voted Faculty Member of the Year by the Class of 2019!

Legacy Partner Award PTRS and the School of Nursing were recently honored with the Legacy Partner Award from the Baltimore County Department of Aging. The Legacy Partner Award recognizes our partnership to enhance the lives of older adults in Baltimore County. Linda Horn, PT, DScPT, MHS, GCS, NCS, Assistant Professor (pictured below, center) received the award on behalf of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, at the Annual Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. The luncheon was held at Martin's West on May 16th, 2019. The award was presented by the Honorable John Olszewski, County Executive for Baltimore County (pictured below, left) and Laura Riley, Director of the Baltimore County Department for Aging (pictured below, right).

Patient Day at PTRS On Friday, May 10th, 2019, nine members of the community participated in the Taking a Patient History Lab during the Medical Issues block. Community members answered questions about their medical history, which allowed students to hone in their patient interviewing skills. We thank all participants for their time and efforts in helping our students better develop their skills, and even share a few laughs along the way!
