THE CFS WEEKLY “GROWING AND LEARNING TOGETHER”
To Parents and Carers,
Hello CFS Family
Parent Teacher Interviews begin tonight and I urge all of you to come in to talk to your child’s teachers. Schools are a partnership between parents, teachers and children. All of the stakeholders need to really get involved if we are to get the best possible outcomes for each child. If there is something you would like to know, something you don’t understand, or something you are not very happy about; this is a great opportunity to come in and listen, learn and have some say in the way things operate.
Our Year 6’s were at Katherine High School yesterday for orientation, and it is a bit of a shock to realize they only have ten weeks left of their primary school careers. There will be other activities next term to further strengthen relationships with the high school and make the transition to secondary schooling as smooth and as enjoyable as it can be.
If you or your Year 6 child is anxious or unsure about coping with high school next year, please let us know. We have good relationships with the school and will do whatever we can to help your child manage this change, which in many cases, is the biggest change many of the children have faced in their lives, so far.
I am very concerned about the increasing number
of children who are not getting on their allocated buses in the afternoon, due to private arrangements they or their families have made. These arrangements make it very difficult for me, as I am bound to my duty of care to ensure each child gets on the right bus. If your child for whatever reason is not going home on the bus as per the usual arrangements, please phone the school or drop in and inform us.
We will always err on the side of caution if we are unsure, and this might mean insisting that a child get on a particular bus. This in turn might cause an arrangement you have made to come unstuck. Please let us know if there is an alternative arrangement for your child’s transport home from school.
If your child is in Year 4 or Year 6 they may be involved in the NAPLAN School Readiness Testing this week. This is a process whereby we test the IT infrastructure to ensure our systems are up to scratch for when NAPLAN moves fully online next year. The tests the children complete do not count toward their NAPLAN scores – we are simply testing the test. If you would like to know more, please give me a call.
I trust you will enjoy your children for the two
week break, and that we all return in high spirits
and good health for term four.
Please remember that Monday 15 October is a
Student Free Day.
