The School of M idw ifery has an intake of 40 pupils annually. Principal Research Officer, Group 7A minimum of seven years post-qualification
experience is required in addition to the basic qualification specified for the Grade II post.
Contract Officers are offered twenty per cent contract addition of the salary scale specified in each case.
GeneralA post-graduate qufilification in a r^evant field
of specialisation will be an advantage. Candidates will be expected to work with little or no supervision in the following areas of sp^ialisations:
H ighway Engineering, Soil M echanics and Foundation Engineering, Soil Science, Building Science and Technology including lighting, thermal comfort and acoustics, M aterials for Engineering Construction and Road Safety.
For (a) the successful candidate is expected to lead research in either Geophysics, Geochemistry with bias for M ineral Exploration or M ineralogy with bias for X-ray diffraction. The Geophysicist should have bias in exploration and should be conversant with most geophysical methods. He will be expected to supplement petrological and/, or m ineral exploration research in the Department with geophysiwl data. The M ineralogist should have long experience with X-ray crystalography and should be particularly interested in X-ray diffraction.
For (ft) the successful candidate should have special interest or experience in one o| die following areas;
(t) Engineering Geology with strong background of rodt mechanics and/or hydrogeology.
(/i) M ineralogy with specM bias in optical and X-ray crystalography and with experience of X-ray diffaction and power camera w'ork.

(i«) Experimental Geology.
For (c) the technician should have long experience in ecol3?lical work in Geochemistry or electronic backgroimd with experience in the maintenance of X-ray equipment.
