ST. LUKE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH OGALLALA, NEBRASKA

From the Pastor’s Desk Today at St. Patrick’s we celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for our Juniors and Seniors with their sponsors and Bishop Dendinger. Blessings to each of you on this special occasion for you and St. Patrick’s.

The scriptures call us to make our lives fruitful. Each of us is cre-ated to do more than take up space in the garden. When tended carefully even the least appealing tasks and aspects of our lives offer essential nutrients for healthy growth. Turn away from sin and turn towards the Gospel. May our lives be fruitful.

PEACE AND ALL GOOD!

Fr. Bryan

CALLED BY NAME

The Vocation Office for the Diocese of Grand Island will soon be asking for your prayers and participation in the CALLED BY NAME PROGRAM. The Lord Jesus still invites young people to consider a religious vocation as a wonderful way to spend their life. The Lord uses us as His instrument in planting the seed and inviting them to consider looking into the possibility. So will you join us in this effort? Begin by thinking of the youth of our parish that you prayerfully want to ask and submit their name when the time comes.

THANK YOU! *****************************************************

Riddle at the Rodeo So this was how I was going to die. A jackhammer blasted away in my chest, beads of sweat dotted

my forehead, and the muscles in my right arm vibrated like strummed guitar strings. No matter how tightly I clung to the bull’s rope, I knew the thing would buck me off. Prayer was auto-matic: “Hail, Mary, full of grace…” This close to death, I proba-bly should have chosen the Act of Contrition. When someone steals the prize buckle of a junior bull-riding champion, middle-school student and amateur sleuth Kirsten Camarata sets her mind to solving the mystery, helped by her cousins Courtney and Emily and her little brother, “Brat.” In order to get behind the scenes, Kirsten takes part in a rodeo, and even though someone goes to extreme measures to prevent her from doing so, her detective skills pay off as she pieces together the clues to solve the mystery. ePub/Kindle

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

First Communion Parents Meeting The First Communion Parents meeting has been rescheduled

for Sunday, April 7th after the 10:00 AM Mass. This is an im-portant meeting for you and your child who will be receiving their First Communion in a few short weeks. We will be covering re-quirements and answering questions. Banner materials will be handed out, deadlines discussed and seating arrangements made. See you there. Please mark your calendars for this important

date.

The Bible and the Virgin Mary Journey through Scripture is the St. Paul Center’s dynamic Bible study program designed to help ordinary

Catholics grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures while deep-ening their understanding of the riches of our faith. Distinctively Catholic, Journey through Scripture reads the Bible from the heart of the Church, engaging both the Old and New Testaments and how they work together. It’s grounded in history, yet actively engages topics faced by today’s Catholic. More than just an ordi-nary Bible study, it’s biblical catechesis.

The Bible and the Virgin Mary is a dynamic twelve-part video series that beautifully explains the Catholic truths about Our Lady, showing how she has been a part of God’s plan to bring salvation to the world since the beginning of time. In addition to explanation of dogmas, answers to common objections, and dem-onstration of Mary’s presence in the Old and New Testaments, this study discusses Church-approved Marian apparitions that play an important role in Catholic Tradition. It’s sure to help Catholics and non-Catholics alike grow in an understanding and appreciation of the Mother of God.
