history many important people, we now recognize as "Distinguished Locos", they will be the stars of our Carnival.

For Friday, March 4 .- Opening of the celebrations for Carnival. This year, Madrid loses her head during Carnival. Our rich medieval past inspire us: we recover the historical essence of the Festival of Fools, in that carnival spirit, mocking was already present. As in the Middle Ages, the people of Madrid to the streets in a spirit noisy, naughty and brimming with vitality, desiring and deserving for a few days free from the straitjacket of everyday conventions, giving free rein to the extravagance, transgression and satire.

The burial of the sardine is a symbolic way of dismissing the carnival. Historically has symbolized the end of debauchery and vice that were associated with this event. By burying the sardine what was intended was to bury the vices and sins committed during the celebrations and to start from

scratch with the start of Lent. Today it remains the custom of burying the carnival fire sardines, but has lost the redemptive significance that it enjoyed in the past.

Each year the City Council invites us to let themselves be overcome by the healthy

spirit of satire, slapstick and sound character that draws us transgression Carnival. And

each year, to avert it, we start with a general idea on which to establish the conclusion,

waking fantasy and drag the illusion. In it will be just that old "Feast of Fools" that will

unleash the imagination, through a court exorbitant character, to denounce, criticize

and shape a lively and bustling farce.

So, we leave on the street to join in the wholesome madness of Don Carnal, who, after

touring with his giddy entourage the streets of the city, take command of it and we

propose to travel to unknown lands, accompanied by the mythical Ulysses in

mysterious journey. Will show the hand of Odysseus, Karnavires company. Another of

the highlights is the traditional Carnival parade, with its famous eccentric, parades,

music and street theater proposals will create an imaginary landscape, full of fantastic

people and unusual times.

The music also will captain the hosts of Don Carnal. Satellite will be in the Arena and in

the halls of The Night Live. In all these areas will be held on REC Festival Madrid 2011,

a gathering of electronic audiovisual citing creators around the world. Municipal

Symphonic Band, meanwhile, will address the traditional Carnival concert at the Teatro

Monumental, while children are invited to participate in the composition of an opera,
