Hello, I am Father Jean Tayoro, SMA. I was born in the western part of Ivory Coast. I am the fifth born
of eight children. We are five boys and 3 girls. We grew up with our mother after my father passed when I was seven. I joined SMA in 2007 after high School. I did my pastoral experience in Nigeria and the theologi-cal studies in Kenya.
I was ordained a priest on the 18th of June, 2016. My current mission is in Liberia which is my first
appointment. I work in the Diocese of Gbarnga at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Sanniquellie, in the North of Liberia.
We work in a very remote area with a lot of poverty due to more than 15 years of war in Liberia and the Ebola outbreak which left lots of kids without parents. Apart from my pastoral work, I devoted myself to sponsor the education and the care of the orphans of my parish. We will need help to sponsor the feeding and education of some of our orphans. We have also embarked upon a project of renovation of our church which was destroyed. I am grateful to God and privileged to be in Canton. Thank you to Rev. Fr. Tom and the parishioners of the collaborative churches of St. John and St Gerard here in Canton. God bless you all.

"The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest to send out labor-
ers for his harvest.” We know all too well the reali-
ty of Jesus’ words from today’s gospel. The number
of priests and lay leaders is at a crisis point. By vir-
tue of our baptism, we are sent out as “laborers for
his harvest.” How will you respond to Jesus’ words,
“Go on your way. . . I am sending you. . .”? Pray for
the grace to be a courageous disciple!
Christian Initiation of Adults Are you an adult who is seeking to know more about the Catholic faith? Are you baptized but did not receive the other initiation Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation? Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic? The RCIA pro-gram (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) at the Canton Catholic Com-munity can help to guide adults as they contemplate these kinds of faith questions. We are currently in the process of scheduling the RCIA sessions for the upcoming year. Position Available There is a job opening at the Canton Catholic Community for a “Community Secretary”. The Community Secretary assists and provides support services to the Pastor, Parochial Vicar(s) and Deacon, including basic office functions, scheduling appointments, filing, answering the phones, greeting and directing visitors, ordering office supplies, and maintaining websites and social media accounts. This person is the primary interface with the public and parishioners to ensure all who come in contact with our parish have a positive experience and thus grow closer to the Church. This job is a salaried, non-exempt position of 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. A medical, dental and retirement benefit package is available with this position.
