Background
• 17 Canadian pediatrics residency programs train a total of 624 residents.
• Program Directors have face to face meetings twice yearly
• Individual PDs pursuing education research in silos
• Well-established models of research success through collaboration

Mission
• Create, stimulate, and support a community of practice dedicated to advancing research in pediatric PGME in Canada

Objectives
• Develop, promote and collaborate with regard to educational innovations and research across Canadian pediatric residency programs
• Facilitate resident and faculty participation, as both subjects and authors, in pediatric PGME research
• Develop and mentor academic careers in medical education and pediatrics

Process
• CPPD-RG member presentations• ‘Ad-hoc’ presentations
– Non-members invited to present protocols which may benefit from national collaboration
• CPPD-RG endorsement – a commitment to provide feedback, mentorship,
access to a large study population and to study completion.
• Combined resident and faculty involvement in projects is strongly encouraged

Outcomes• 12 National Research Projects– 4 CPPD Member-sponsored– 8 CPPD-endorsed (non-member PI)
• 7 projects to which ‘advice’• 8 Grant proposals• 6 abstracts to 1 national, 2 international
conferences• 14 residents involved in education
research through this consortium
