Building a Community of LoveSchool News No School on Monday, October 14 th in honor of Columbus Day. Please consider volunteering your time as a cafeteria and/or recess volunteer. We are in need of people to help out. Please see the link to volunteer on the next page of this bulletin. According to our handbook, the last day to wear uniform shorts to school would be next Tuesday, October 15; however, Mrs. Ostertag has decided to extend it through October 31 st due to the unseasonably warm temperatures. The choir practices each Sunday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 in the school music room. Children may be dropped off & picked up on Rulison Ave. at the primary building entrance. St. Vincent DePaul Coat and Sweater Drive

While it seems that the heat of August has hung on into

October, winter temperatures will be here soon. Many

children and adults lack the proper clothing to keep warm in

the cold weather. St. Teresa’s St. Vincent De Paul

Conference is joining with Youth Group to collect gently-

worn sweaters and coats of all sizes to help needy people

keep warm this winter. Containers will be located in

school outside the cafeteria, in the back vestibule and in

the breezeway of church October 19 through 29 to

receive new or gently used, clean coats and sweaters in

all sizes (children and adults). We will also accept

scarves, mittens, hats, and socks. This is a great way to

Mrs. Jennifer Ostertag

Teaches: Principal

Personal Info: I am married to Tom Ostertag. We

have three children: Jobie, Faith & Hudson.

Where I Grew up: I grew up in Delhi. I went to

St. Dominic, Seton High School and the college of

Mt. St. Joseph (now known as Mt. St. Joseph

University).

Reason I Became a Teacher: “Since 2nd grade, I

have always wanted to be a teacher. My 7th grade

science teacher showed me how fun learning can be

and I wanted to do that for my own students. Last

year, I was part of the Aspiring Leaders Residency

through the Archdiocese. Through this residency, I

felt called to be a principal. I am so excited to be here

at St. Teresa.”

Birthday: August 24th

Pets: A dog “Reese”. We call him Reese Cup

because of his coloring.

Favorite Color: Blue

Favorite Snacks: Cheese popcorn

Hobbies: Watch my sons play soccer, do crafts, go

camping, garden and read.

Something Interesting you may not know about

me: “I have taught all grades, second through eighth

grade. My favorite subjects are Math and Science. I

have been a teacher for 21 years. This is my first year

of being a principal!”

High School Placement Test

Saturday, November 23rd is the date for this year’s

High School Placement Test. Eighth grade students must pre-

register at the high school where they will be taking the test.

in Wonderland Mercy McAuley High School’s fall

play, Alice in Wonderland, is October 25 – 27. Shows are at

7:30 pm on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26,

and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 27. Tickets are $10 for

adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $5 for children

ARCHDIOCESE OF CINCINNATI

PERMISSION, RELEASE AND MEDICAL POWER OF ATTORNEY (rev. 6-2006)

1. I, the lawful parent or guardian of (the “child”), give permission for my child to participate in the activity described on the Activity Information form and release from all liability and indemnify the Archbishop of Cincinnati (“the Archbishop”), both individually and as trustee for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and all parishes and schools within the Archdiocese (the “Archdiocese”), and their officers, agents, representatives, volunteers, and employees from any and all liability, claims, judgments, cost and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising out of any injury or illness incurred by my child while participating in or traveling to or from the activity and further agree not to bring or prosecute or allow to be brought or prosecuted (including but not limited to prosecution through subrogation) in my name, or on behalf of my Child, any claims, lawsuits or actions against the Archbishop, the Archdiocese, and their officers, agents, representatives, volunteers and employees.

2. I further understand that my Child’s participation is purely voluntary and is a privilege and not a right, and that my Child, and I on behalf of my Child, elect to participate in spite of the risks.

3. I agree to instruct my child to cooperate with the Archbishop or his agents in charge of the activity.

4. I appoint the Archbishop or his agents who are acting as leaders of the activity as my attorney in fact to act for me in my name and my behalf, in any way that I would act if I were personally present, with respect to the following matters if any injury, illness or medical emergency occurs during the activity or related travel:

(i) To give any and all consents and authorizations to any physicians, dentist, hospital or other persons or institutions pertaining to any emergency medications, medical or dental treatments, diagnostic or surgical procedures or any other emergency actions as our attorney shall deem necessary or appropriate for the best interest of the Child.

(ii) I understand that the agents of the Archbishop will make a reasonable attempt to contact me as soon as possible in the event of a medical emergency involving my child.

5. This power of attorney shall lapse automatically upon completion of the activity and related travel.

6. I agree that the Archbishop or his agents may use my child’s portrait or photograph for promotional purposes, website and office functions.

7. This acknowledgement and release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the law of the State of Ohio, and if any portion hereof is declared invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect. This acknowledgement and release shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, except for the choice of law provisions thereof.

I have carefully read and understand and accept the terms and conditions stated herein and acknowledge that this Permission, Release and Medical Power of Attorney shall be effective and binding upon me, my Child, and my own and my Child’s personal representative or estate, assigns, heirs, and next of kin and that I have signed this agreement of my own free will.
