Michelle Williams - Orchestra

Michelle Williams grew up in Bainbridge, NY where she began playing the violin at the age of five. Her instructors were Chris Cumming, Judy Niles, and Sue Hoffmann. She later studied with Dezso Vaghy and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music with a Performers Certificate from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. After teaching in the South Colonie School District near Albany for three years, she earned her Masters of Music in Violin Performance from West Virginia University, where she also taught string pedagogy classes and supervised student teachers in the Music Education program.

Ms. Williams returned to Albany to continue her teaching in the South Colonie School District where she has instructed 4th, 7th and 8th grade students for the last seven years. She has performed with several orchestras in the Albany and surrounding areas, including the Albany, Glens Falls, Schenectady, Utica and Catskill Symphonies, She has also served as concertmaster of the Troy Orchestra and the Christian Arts International ensemble. She teaches a small studio of private students and plays often on the worship team at her church as well as in several small chamber groups. Ms. Williams also enjoys playing alternative style music on her violin and has been a member of two bands in the Albany area in the groups Hundred Monkey Theory and Faded ReFLEXion.
