If so, then now’s the time to think about pulling together an entry for the British Healthcare Trades Awards that will be presented at a celebratory dinner at the end of the year. Our members – almost 500 companies employing over 17,000 people – make or sell healthcare and assistive technology products that help people live more independently.

There are two sets of awards for companies to enter; the British Healthcare Trades Awards and the Independent Living Design Award (ILDA).

The awards evening will also see the presentation of the BHTA Lifetime Achievement Award.

The British Healthcare Trades AwardsThe British Healthcare Trades Awards recognises the companies that are making a difference.

There are six awards categories:• Best Product • Best Service • Most Effective Marketing Campaign • Best Contribution to the Community• NHS DAC Patient Services• Retailer of the Year

There are individual entry forms for each award. These can be downloaded from the BHTA website at www.bhta.com section Healthcare Awards

Independent Living Design AwardNow in their 23rd year, the Independent Living Design awards are recognised by professionals and members of the trade as the flagship

award when it comes to highlighting the very best innovative developments in the industry. Manufacturers, designers and retailers are invited to nominate the product(s) they believe have significantly enhanced independent living.

Important DatesIf you are planning to enter your company or a product for an award, the important dates are:

31st August 2018 Closing date for entries.

28th September 2018 Awards panel meet and any presentation by short listed entries (if required).

29th November 2018 Presentation to the winners at the British Healthcare Trades Awards Dinner.

BHTA Lifetime Achievement AwardEach year a special award is presented to someone who has made what the BHTA believes to be an outstanding and inspirational contribution to the industry. If you know someone who fits the bill, then you can nominate them for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Please email [email protected] for a nomination form.

The British Healthcare Trades AwardsFor each category there will be one award winner and, if appropriate, any number of Highly Commended. Your entry must set out, in no more than 1,000 words, how you/your nominee satisfies these criteria.

Please ensure you answer all the award criteria/definition as failure to do so may lead to your entry being rejected. The entry must set out how your entry satisfies these criteria.

Award Criteria/DefinitionCharitable or community activity and involvement Describe the organisation partner, the support and involvement and why chosen. The support should be evidenced with acknowledgement from the cause concerned.

Provide evidence of activityTestimonials, press coverage, contacts (internal or external), sponsorships, individual / team efforts and challenges. External communications that raise the profile of the cause and/or the industry. Form of contribution All outputs from the activity will be considered for any size of organisation e.g. financial such as funds raised, how spent. Who benefits and how. Non financial contributions such as advertising administrative premises and general PR together with involvement of internal staff and individual fund raising. Demonstrate outcomes Describe individual or collective benefits to the causes(s).

Supporting EvidenceAdditional supporting evidence can include any multimedia links to websites, media channels – video etc......that may help support your application. Please try to use web-links where possible.

Terms and conditionsBy submitting this form, you agree to abide by the following rules for the British Healthcare Awards and the Independent Living Design Award:

i. The decisions of the Judging Panel are final and there is no right of appeal.

ii. BHTA will not make any contribution to the costs of making an entry nor for attending interviews.

iii. BHTA and the Judging Panel are not obliged to make an award.

iv. The organisation submitting the entry must be a UK organisation (e.g. if a company/LLP must be registered in the UK, including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands). All types of organisation are eligible to submit entries eg businesses, charities, public bodies, sole traders, partnerships etc.

v. Entry is open to organisations which are not members of the BHTA. Membership of the BHTA will not be a criterion for the evaluation of entries.

vi. The product/service must be on the market in the UK and available for purchase.

vii. The ownership of the intellectual property must not be the subject of any dispute.

viii. Entries received after the closing date, 31st August 2018, will not be accepted.

ix. Awards will be announced at The British Healthcare Awards dinner hosted by BHTA on 29th November 2018.

x. BHTA retains the right to publicise all awards including winner, runner up and commended entries and all photographs taken on the evening to promote the award winners in whatsoever media it deem fit for the purpose of publicising the event, its entrants and winners.

No paper copies of any entry documents are required; all entries should be made electronically, by uploading them to a link provided after an entry form has been submitted.

Please confirm that if required the organisation would be available for a presentation/interview in London.

Cheques – Made payable to “BHTA” and attach a copy of the entry form.

Entering the awardsThe closing date for entries is 31st August 2018 and winners will be presented on 29th November 2018. The entry fee for submissions is £100.00+VAT (VAT invoices will be provided). To enter, please complete and email back to [email protected], indicating your preferred method of payment.

A form and an entry fee will be required for eAcH category entered, i.e. if you wish to enter your product for the Independent Living Design Award and for Best Product and Best Service Awards, please complete separate forms and pay the relevant entry fees.

Once we have received your completed entry form and payment, we will send you a link, to which you will need to upload electronic copies of:

· This completed entry form;

· Your written statement, setting out how you/your nominee meets the Awards criteria for your category; feel free to include images and company logo in with your statement. Please save your statement using a filename that starts with your company name, e.g. “ABC Mobility statement.doc”;

· Details of appropriate referees who would be willing to be contacted during judging, at the judges’ discretion; and

· Any ESSENTIAL supporting information (this should be kept to an absolute minimum and only included if it is critical to enable the judges to evaluate the product/service).
