Since overcoming his biggest fight in life he’s now living his dreams in the ring. We recently ran into Ma-Main after his match against Daniel Locklair at White Rock Gym in Ballentine. One of SCs artist destined for greatness

Raising the bar for any upcoming SC artist, Mr Cool-Aid is on the move.Where did it all begin? We learn more about his ob-stacles, success and goals in this recent interview where he has no problem keeping it real. Q: Welcome, first and for most I know every one is wondering, how did you come up with the name Mr. Cool-Aid?

A: Well I always loved kool-aid, so one day Iwas at home thinking of ways to de-fine kool-aid. Cool-aid to me defines a persons personality to their attire. You know, how they carry them-selves. On top of that im just a cool n***a.

Q: What was your childhood like growing up?

A: I struggled to make it through school. There were gangs and drugs

around me more than a child should see. I looked up to my older cousins just seeing all the jewlrey, cars and clothes, I wanted that life. I dreamed of that fancy lifestyle, so as I got older I looked into rap.

Q: How old were you when you first started rapping?

A: I was 13 years old when I started. That was my first time ac-tually writing a song. I can honestly say I didn’t like it, it was wack.Q: Has your family al-ways been supportive of your career choice?

A: Yes, they have always been and will forever be my biggest support system. My brother Big Bear specif-ically has been that one that stays on me.

Q: Who would you say influenced your rhymes?

A: Pastor Troy definitely.

Q: When have you been most satis-

“I will never turn my back

on family”

fied in your career?

A: In 2002, thats when I first won a rap contest down in Atlanta. That was a proud moment for me, thats where it all began.

Q: How often do you practice be-fore a show?

A: Twice in the car on the way to a performance.

Q: How do you handle a mistake on stage?

A: Just keep it going, ad lib over the mistakes and then jump back in.

Q: What is something, Mr. Cool-Aid, wouldn’t do?

A: Turn my back on family.

Q: Family life, do you have any children?

A: Yes I have 7 kids. 6 biological and a stepson who I love and raise as my own.

Q: Have you had any days where you wanted to give up and stick to a

regular 9-5 job?

A: Yes, times got hard, and I had to support my family. When I think of my kids going without, I have to focus on making moves for them.

Q: What is a typical day for Mr. Cool-aid?

A: Just chilling with my kids, ev-ery chance I get I spend time with them.

Q: What are some obstacles you had to overcome in your career?

A: Dealing with a lot of fakeness. People say what they’re gonna do and not do it. People say they gonna help others and don’t. It’s always a money issue with some-body.

Page 11: The BreakThrough with Mr. Cool-Aid

Q: How do you balance your per-sonal life with rapping?

A: No balance neccessary right now. Honestly at this point rap is about 20% compared to the 80% I give to my family.

Q: Are you signed?

A: No.

Q: If you could choose a record lable or artist to be signed under, who would it be?

A: Well how the industry is now, i would sign with Yo Gotti. Alot of n***as seem to have changed in the rap game.

Q: Whats next for Mr. Cool-Aid?

A: I want to try to put together song battles. Similar to freestyle battles but with full songs.

So there you have it Mr. Cool- Aid fans. If you want more from Mr. Cool-Aid you can watch his self titled hit single “Cool-Aid” on YouTube or fol-low him on Facebook @ Daniel Buttabean June.
