Message from the Governor
The San Gabriel Valley Chapter founded in 1985 has a
long history of success and also difficult challenges.
I have been involved with the SGV Chapter since 2003during its most challenging year. On the verge of closurethat year, I seek the help of some members including thechapter’s founding President, Wilfred Soelter and pastDistrict Advisor Dave Curry together with a few past pres-idents. With barely any funds to run the chapter, I took thePresident role that year and seek IIA sponsorship to attendthe 2003 Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Theknowledge I gained at that conference and the assistancefrom IIA headquarters Chapter support slowly breathe life
to the SGV chapter. Since then, new leaders emerged and took the challenge to bring life andfinally in 2004, the SGV Chapter received its Gold Chapter Achievement Program award. The ensuing years, the chapter moved to where it is today, fifteen Gold achievement awards,of which 5 of those latter years as Platinum.
What is my passion? Involvement and commitment. I believed in volunteers. I recall thequote of IIA Past President Bill Bishop in his 2004 newsletter about the San Gabriel ValleyChapter, “To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, butalso believe.”
I continue to be involved with the SGV chapter in any capacity, the last four years I was in-volved with Academic Relations and Advocacy. I visited universities and attend Studentnights at every occasion. I believe the future of the profession is in the hands of the younggeneration. I envision to pass the baton of the Internal Audit profession to these young andaspiring professions.
I believe!
