The Power To Transform
by Chris Majer
Book Description:
What if you could design your future instead of having
it just happen to you? The Power to Transform teaches
you the strategies corporate, military, and sports leaders
have used to do just that for themselves and their
organizations! Yes, you can have the life of your
dreams—here’s how.
In The Power to Transform, Majer tailors his program to
you the individual, sharing the methods he has devel-
oped over two decades that have made him one of the
leading innovators in the field. The book distills complex philosophical and lin-
guistic concepts into easy-to-use practices that produce transformational change.
Readers have reached a plateau in their personal or professional lives know that
there is something more to life. They are committed to real change and will find
considerable power in:
Building the practices for authentic learning.
Seeing that learning isn't about "knowing and understanding," it is the devel-
opment of "embodied competence".
Learning how new action, not new thinking, is the cornerstone of change.
Facing down the most daunting challenges and making consistently powerful
choices.
Building a practice that will enable you to stay calm while the world around
you swirls in confusion.
7
H arnessing inspiration from a variety of sources such as other motivational
leaders, teachers, and coaches, Chris Majer author of The Power to
Transform embarks on a journey of self discovery, team management,
and developing innovative and strategic concepts in realizing the human potential.
Majer is founder and Ceo of the Human Potential Project, a project which is
"designed to deliver transformational education for athletes, the military, and cor-
porate organizations".
In The Power to Transform, Passion, Power, and Purpose in Daily Life, Majer
shares his knowledge and formulates his program for the individual. Irrespective
of your status or your career goal, this book offers "easy-to-use" concepts that
will produce change.
As the first book in our Reader's Journal forum, we will highlight key points and
profound statements without giving too much away! Minutes into reading The
Power to Transform, several fundamental points arrest the attention and lead the
reader to the core message of this book, that is, the individual's power to make
choices that will bring about a transformation in their own lives.
We have the capacity to continuously reshape our lives.
We are not forever bound by our circumstances or occurrences.
We can choose to reinvent ourselves and our futures.
Excuses are usually as a result of fear.
Although many of us are already aware of these points, we fail to apply them
which results in unrealized dreams and goals. These fundamental points speak to
the heart of all human beings, because we all have something in our lives that
we'd like to change. Maybe you'd like to become a better parent; or get that first
novel out of your head and on paper; or make your business more enterprising.
Whatever your goal or whatever your lack, according to Majer, you have the po-
tential to reshape your life and reinvent your future. Put fear aside.
Okay. So let's bring it down to an everyday, practical level. You have a deep de-
sire to write a novel, but you have a fear that you might not be able to do it. Or
you think that maybe the manuscript will be no good. Or you have a fear that it
will be rejected by the publishers. Well, write anyway! Choose to step out of your
8
comfort zone and get the words out of your head and on paper. Write what comes
to mind, challenge yourself and write, write, write! Here's a tip: keep a notebook
and think about your characters (they are real within the pages of your book) and
writing about them should come naturally.
Also, you should know that readers make good writers, that's because we already
know what we want in a story.
This is only the Introduction! Should you choose to implement these strategies in
your life, then Majer promises a journey that is exciting, intense and rewarding.
But he is not only promising change; he is also promising transformation.
Read The Power to Transform by Chris Majer along with us, and feel free to dis-
cuss your findings and how this book has helped to transform your life.

S ometimes when we are reading, we'll come across a phrase or an
entire paragraph that tends to leave us pondering and wondering just
what the writer meant by it. The phrase or the sentence is profound
and you wish to capture it, so you might write it in a notebook or
save it in your phone or any other electronic device as a screen saver on a
slow crawl.
Something about the phrase struck a chord with you, and you can’t get it out
of your head. Well, you're not alone. We too are on the lookout for fascinat-
ing phrases and sentences that seem to lift off the pages of a book and take
on a life of their own. We call these phrases, the prolific phrase, because
they produce much to the imagination. From them, thought and reasoning
flow and the words sprout root and yield much fruit.
This month's prolific phrase is:
"...now he saw the familiar wide river beside the path
differently. He saw all of the light and color and his-
tory it contained and carried in its slow-moving water;
and he knew that there was an Elsewhere from which
it came, and an Elsewhere to which it was going."
The Giver by Lois Lowry.
What's profound about the phrase itself is the way in
which "Elsewhere" is used synonymously with some-
where known or definite. Therefore “Elsewhere” be-
comes an actual destination with a beginning and an ending place just by the
author's capitalization of the word. The way in which this common term
elsewhere is phrased in the sentence breathes new life and meaning into the
passage. As the river meanders and winds its way to places known and un-
known, it carries with it a history of each place, and the main character saw
that in it there was a beginning and an end.

David and Goliath
by Malcolm Gladwell
Book Description:
Three thousand years ago on a battlefield in ancient Palestine, a shepherd boy felled a mighty warrior with nothing more than a stone and a sling, and ever since then the names of David and Goliath have stood for battles between underdogs and giants.
David's victory was improbable and miraculous. He shouldn't have won.
Or should he have? In David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell challenges how we think about obstacles and
disadvantages, offering a new interpretation of what it means to be discriminated against, or cope with a disability, or lose a parent, or attend a mediocre school, or suffer from any number of other apparent setbacks. Gladwell begins with the real story of what happened between the giant and the shep-
herd boy those many years ago. From there, David and Goliath examines Northern
Ireland's Troubles, the minds of cancer researchers and civil rights leaders, murder and the high costs of revenge, and the dynamics of successful and unsuccessful class-rooms---all to demonstrate how much of what is beautiful and important in the world arises from what looks like suffering and adversity.
In the tradition of Gladwell's previous bestsellers---The Tipping
Point, Blink, Outliers and What the Dog Saw---David and Goliath draws upon history,
psychology, and powerful storytelling to reshape the way we think of the world
around us.

Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo’s
Meteorite Mission by Oneeka Williams M.D.
A s a Harvard Medical School Graduate
and a practicing surgeon, I am often
asked why I have decided to write
children’s books. I developed my
desire to become a doctor at an early age and
because my Mom was a science teacher, I
learned to love science at a young age. On the
other hand my Dad shared his passion for
writing and I grew up writing poetry for every
occasion including birthdays, holidays and
family reunions.
I have been fortunate to be able to live a life
without limits and I want to encourage kids to do the same. I want to inspire them
to read, to spark their curiosity in science, and to create a framework for them to
believe that “Not Even the Sky is the Limit!”
THE DR. DEE DEE DYNAMO’s MISSION:
Share the excitement and love that I have for being a doctor and a surgeon
with young readers.
Create an action figure that brings strong, positive and powerful images for
girls of all colors.
Introduce in children’s literature, a counter narrative to some of the stereo-
typical images in the media.
Stimulate interest in the sciences for all kids, but especially girls, by present-
ing learning facts in a fun way.
Promote the importance of literacy.
Thank you again for your interest in my books, and for more information please

With news still fresh from the
Chelyabinsk meteor that had
entered the Earth’s atmosphere on February 15, 2013, readers are once again
taken on an adventuresome trip with Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo’s Meteorite Mission.
Matty Meteorite has collided with Earth and Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo and her surgi-
cal team takes off to the rescue to reunite the broken meteorite to Astrid Asteroid!
Author Oneeka Williams, M.D. writes an exciting new book that takes readers on
a journey to learn about meteorites, meteors, asteroids, meteoroids, and comets.
Using catchy rhyming techniques, kids can easily recite and learn the differences
between each. A helpful glossary at the back of the book also makes it easy for
kids to look up their meanings.
As Freeda the Flying Ambulance navigates to Chelyabinsk in Russia (the meteor-
ite site), its occupants (Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo and her team) are taken to various
meteorite sites around the world, and readers learn of the craters that exist on our
planet.
The book gives a warm, familiar feeling as the personality of the surgical team is
more prominent in this adventure. Dr. Dynamo’s assistant, Kyle the Koala Bear,
although grumpy, is a lovable and refreshing character. He states the obvious and
his statements are laden with facts about our solar system.
Award-winning graphic and fine artist, Valerie Bouthyette brings the story to life
as her action-filled illustrations are exuberant and vibrant. Even the video book
trailers are entertaining miniature media series, that could one day easily be con-
verted into regularly scheduled TV animated series.

Well written with great character development and an adventuresome storyline,
Dr. Dee Dee Dynamo’s Meteorite Mission is a must read!
Great way to begin your kid’s reading list for 2014! An absolutely good way to
get your kids interested in the sciences. Congratulations Dr. Oneeka Williams!
