Page 1: The blind mile

The Blind Mile Goal- To complete 4 laps (1 mile) around the track. Objective- To see how close you can come to your time that you think you can run the mile in. Equipment- portable score board or a stop watch, index cards and a marker. Directions- All students will be given a card with a number on in it. The number will be written in your grade book next to their name. Students are not allowed to wear a watch for this activity. Warm Up- Dynamics On the card you are going to ask them how long do they think it will take them to complete a mile. They will write their time on the card and then keep the card. They will have 20 minutes to complete the assignment. Each lap they complete you will tell them their time(split). The goal is to come as close to the time that they have written on their index card. The idea behind this is to 1. Make them aware of a type of exercise goal. 2. To get them to understand the concept of pacing . 3. Have fun with it.
