the benefits of searching the scriptures
DESCRIPTION
Searching the scriptures is not an option, but a must for every believer that desires to know God, and live a life that is pleasing to Him. We often find the time to do other things that do not really matter much or are of less priority to God, but when it comes to the one thing that should become the top priority of every believer in the body of Christ today, we keep giving excuses. The word of God which is also known as the “Holy Scriptures”, is more important to God than any other thing in life. John 1:1 tell us that, In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God! God and His word are one; therefore it is utterly impossible for anyone to know God outside His word. There are men from all walks of life scathing the four corners of this great planet searching for so-called “lost treasure” of some sort, but unknown to them the greatest treasures of life are buried and hidden in the word of God.TRANSCRIPT

Searching the scriptures is not an option,
but a must for every believer that desires to
know God, and live a life that is pleasing to
Him. We often find the time to do other
things that do not really matter much or are
of less priority to God, but when it comes to
the one thing that should become the top
priority of every believer in the body of Christ
today, we keep giving excuses.
The word of God which is also known as the
“Holy Scriptures” is more important to God
than any other thing in life. John 1:1 tells us
that, In the beginning was the word and
the word was with God, and the word
was God! God and His word are one
5 | P a g e
therefore it is utterly impossible for anyone
to know God outside His word.
There are men from all walks of life scathing
the four corners of this great planet searching
for so-called “lost treasure” of some sort, but
unknown to them the greatest treasures of life
are hidden and buried in the word of God.
Colossians 2:3
3. In Him is hid the treasures of knowledge and
wisdom”
Proverbs 25:2 tells us that, “It is the glory of the
LORD to conceal a thing, but honour of kings to
search out a matter”. The secrets of God’s
kingdom are hidden from the reach of men and
they cannot be found by those who read God’s
word for fun or just to pass away the time, but
by people who have placed the right value on
it. Specifically by those who are ready to pay
the price, and approach the word of God with
6 | P a g e
reference and an expectation in their heart,
believing that every single minute spent
searching the depth of God's word will leave an
indelible mark in their lives.
Remember the God who said, "do not cast
your pearls before swine”, will not cast His
own treasure before those who have no value
for it.
Searching the scriptures is like "launching
into the deep". Peter toiled all night, until
Jesus told him to launch into the deep (Luke
5: 4 – 7).
Have you been looking unto God for an end
to your toils and struggles? Then it time for
you to go on a search for the keys that
unlock the doors of the supernatural in your
life. Jesus said in Mathew 16:19, that, “"And
I will give you the KEYS of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will
7 | P a g e
be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose
on earth will be loosed in heaven"
In my many years of studying the word and
observing human behaviour patterns, I have
come to understand that every man needs
some kind of motivation to make something,
a habit or a lifestyle. Therefore in this book I
am going to be sharing with you, “the
benefits of searching the word of God on a
daily basis”, hoping that in turn, this will
give you the inspiration you need to become
a certified studier of God’s word – 1 Tim
2:15.

Chapter One
Your Rights and Privileges
In Christ
he more time you spend
studying the word of God, the
more you get to know your rights
and privileges as a child of God. 2 Peter 1:3-
4, says, “According as his divine power hath
given unto us all things that pertain unto life
and godliness, through the knowledge of him
that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great
and precious promises: that by these ye
might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the
world through lust.

When you know who are in Christ, and the
authority that God has placed in your
hands, then the devil with not be able to
take you for a ride. Ignorance is one of the
weapons that the devil uses against the
children of God. It’s no wonder God said in
Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack
of knowledge…”
Jesus redeemed you by His blood so that
you can live a life that is free from shame
and struggles, and it is only through
knowledge that you can come to understand
this, that is why He said, “And ye shall
know the truth, and the truth shall make
you free” - John 8:32. The book of Ephesians
gives a more precise in-depth to this benefit
by saying:
10 | P a g e
Ephesians 1:16-20
16. Cease not to give thanks for you, making
mention of you in my prayers; 17. That the
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom
and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18.
The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened; that ye may know what is the
hope of his calling, and what the riches of the
glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19. And what is the exceeding greatness
of his power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of his mighty
power,
20. Which he wrought in Christ, when he
raised him from the dead, and set him at his
own right hand in the heavenly places,
11 | P a g e
Revelations comes through the Holy Spirit as
we study and meditate on the word. It gives
us the knowledge and understand we need
to grow into matured Christians, and take
our rightful place in Christ!

Chapter Two
Solid Foundation
od’s word is the foundation for
all creation, as John 1:1-3
rightly says; “In the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. The same was in the
beginning with God. All things were made
by him; and without him was not anything
made that was made.
Jesus Christ is the word of God of
personified, and Apostle Paul confirming
John 1:1, said, “According to the grace of
God which is given unto me, as a wise
masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation,
G
13 | P a g e
and another buildeth thereon. But let every
man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than
that is laid, which is Jesus Christ” -
[]1 Corinthians 3:10-11 ]
When you diligently search the scriptures
and apply the word to your life, you are
solidifying the foundation of your life, and
this will help you to stand strong when the
challenges come knocking.
Matthew 7:24-27
24. Therefore whosoever heareth these
sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken
him unto a wise man, which built his house
upon a rock: 25. And the rain descended,
and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for
it was founded upon a rock. 26. And every
one that heareth these sayings of mine, and
14 | P a g e
doeth them not, shall be likened unto a
foolish man, which built his house upon the
sand:
27. And the rain descended, and the floods
came, and the winds blew, and beat upon
that house; and it fell: and great was the fall
of it.
Searching the scripture imparts you with
knowledge, and knowledge in turn
strengthens you, and increases your
understanding in the things of God –
Proverbs 24:3-6.
It makes you immovable in the face of
adversity.

Chapter Three
Imparts You with Wisdom
isdom is one the vital
ingredients required for
living a victoriously life in
Christ. God is the only wise God, and all of
His creations are a result of His wisdom.
The Psalmist declares in Psalms 104:24, “O
LORD, how manifold are thy works! In
wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is
full of thy riches.
It is one thing to know what the word of God
says; it is another to know how to apply it to
your life. This where wisdom comes in.
wisdom is the application of Knowledge.
W
16 | P a g e
Possessing knowledge and not knowing how
to use it will make life very frustrating. By
searching the scriptures you will not only
acquire knowledge, but through the help of
the Holy Spirit you will also be imparted
with the wisdom to apply it to your own
situation and circumstances.
Proverbs 2:1-7
1. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and
hide my commandments with thee; 2. So that
thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and
apply thine heart to understanding; 3. Yea,
if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up
thy voice for understanding; 4. If thou
seekest her as silver, and searchest for her
as for hid treasures; 5. Then shalt thou
understand the fear of the LORD, and find
the knowledge of God. 6. For the LORD
giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh
17 | P a g e
knowledge and understanding. 7. He layeth
up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a
buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Jesus defeated the devil on the cross of
Calvary through the wisdom of God! –
1 Corinthians 2:8-9.
Without the wisdom of God operating in your
life, you will not be able to resist and
overcome the wiles of the devil. God’s
wisdom is your best bet to living heaven
here on the earth. Proverbs 4:5-7, says, “Get
wisdom, get understanding: forget it not;
neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee:
love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is
the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
and with all thy getting get understanding.
18 | P a g e
Remember, God only give His wisdom to
those that seek and search for it - with all
their heart.

Chapter Four
It Builds Your Faith
t new birth as a child of God,
He gives you a measure of faith,
and it is your responsibility to
build on it, so that you can grow from
babyhood to adulthood, in the things of the
spirit. This measure is like a seed in you,
planted in your spirit man by God Himself –
Romans 12:3.
One main characteristics of a seed is that it
has the ability to grow, and produce fruits
in multitude fold. God expects you to take
A
20 | P a g e
time to develop the faith He has placed in
your heart.
Romans 10:17 tells us, that, “So then faith
cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word
of God”. The word is the source of kingdom
faith, and only by it can you build on the
faith that is already in you. The more you
study and meditate on the word and apply
its principles to your life, the more your
faith increases.
Apostle Paul speaking in Acts 20:32 said;
Acts 20:32
32. And now, brethren, I commend you to
God, and to the word of his grace, which is
able to build you up, and to give you an
inheritance among all them which are
sanctified.
The word of God imparts you with faith, and
increases the level of faith that is already in
21 | P a g e
you, making room for you to be fruitful in
life. This is the reason why the book of First
Peter, encourages every child of God to
desire the word.
1 Peter 2:2
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of
the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
God’s word is the food of the spirit and only
by it is growth possible. In other words
searching the scriptures is one of the main
keys to spiritual growth.

Chapter Five
It Renews Your Mind
once heard one of my mentors in
ministry say that, “Your mentality
defines your destiny”. Proverbs 23:7
says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is
he…” In other words, a man’s productivity
in life is largely determined by his state of
mind.
Before we became born-again, our minds
were carnally inclined, producing thoughts
and imagination that were in direct
contradiction to the word of God. The book
of Romans chapter 6 states, “For to be
carnally minded is death; but to be
I
23 | P a g e
spiritually minded is life and peace. Because
the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it
is not subject to the law of God, neither
indeed can be”. Now that we are born-again
we have a duty to renew our mind with the
word of God, and this we do by searching
through the word meditatively as often as
we can. This in turn will change our
perspective of things in life, and we will able
to look at life situations through the eyes of
God!
Let’s take a look at one of Apostle Paul’s
admonition in the book of Romans 12:1-2;
1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service. 2. And be
not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your
24 | P a g e
mind, that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Apostle Paul makes it very clear that there
cannot be any significant transformation in
the life of a believer without the renewal of
the mind. Your mind is the gateway to life,
so you have to re-programme and guard it
with the word of God. Those who explore the
word, with not lack exploits in this world!
