Successful Village Fête
Thesunshone,despiteallpredictions,andwehadawonderfulfêtewhichcontributedover£5,000tothehallfundraisingeffort.
TheFunDogShowwaswellattendedandwewereable,onceagain,tosupporttheMedicalDetectionDogscharity,alocalandveryworthwhilecause.Readmoreatwww.medicaldetectiondogs.org.uk
Thefêtecouldnothappenwithouttheassistanceofsomanypeople–fromthecommitteewhohavebeenworkingonthissincethedarkdaysofwinter,toeveryonewhodonateditemstosell,tothosewhoboughtraffletickets,bakedcakesorhelpedonstalls,andfinallytoeveryonewhoattendedthefeteandenjoyedourtraditionalcountryspectacle.Wethankyouall!
Recycling Centre Changes
Theglassandcardboardrecyclingfacilitiesatthevillagehallhavenowgone.ThecouncilwasteteamdecidedtoremovethemasofmidAugust,asawiderangeofrecyclablesarenowcollectedatthekerb.ThenearestrecyclingfacilitiesareatWaterMeadowcarparkorCameronRoadinCheshamorthemainhouseholdwastecentreonWaterside.
Theclothingbankwillremain,forthetimebeinguntilthecommitteemakesadecisionaboutitsfuture.Thisdoesgiveusmorespaceinthecarparksowe’replanningtomarkuptheareatomaximisethenumberofspacesforbusyevents.
BAVH Year In Review
TheAGMwaswellattended,althoughtherepresentationofclubsandsocietiesthatusethehallwasalittledisappointing.MoreeffortwillbemadenextyeartoengagethoseuserstoattendandcontributetotheAGM.
Thecommitteehasbeenworkingonanumberofprojectsoverthelast12monthsinadditiontotheregularupkeepofthehallandgrounds,andthehireofthefacilities:

We’redelightedtoannouncethatwewereawardedalmost£10,000bytheBigLotteryFundtoenableustoproceedwiththekitchenupgrade.
VillagerandBellingdonBelleHelenHardingiskindlyoverseeingtheprojectandwe’llhaveafurtherupdateinthenextnewsletterandonthewebsite,withworkplannedforFebruary.
AttheAGMresidentswereinagreementthatanewcharitybeformedtobeknownasBellingdonandAsheridgeCommunityAssociation.Thiswouldbecreatedunderanewcharitystructurecalleda“CharitableIncorporatedOrganisation”

whichgivesbetterprotectiontotheTrustees.TheaimsofthenewcharitywouldbetonotonlytakeovertheexistingBAVHcharitybuttoprovideawiderrepresentationofthelocalcommunity.

Christmas Parties
WeareproposingtoruntwocommunityChristmaspartiesatthehallthisyear,forthoseatbothendsoftheagespectrum.
Provisionallyplannedfortheweekendof2nd/3rdDecember,therewillbeseparateeventsfortheunder8sandover65s.Anyonewhowouldliketohelpoutwiththiscommunityeffortpleasedoletusknow…themorethemerrier!TheorganiserswillbeknockingondoorsinearlySeptembertoseewhomightbeinterestedinattending.

AfewyearsagoIwasgiventhisreallyeasyandabsolutelydelicious,slightlydifferentchutneyrecipe.Itiswonderfulwithcheeseandcoldmeats,andactuallyprettymucheverything!Mixtogether:
• 500gratedrawapple• 1tspdriedturmeric• 1”gratedrawginger• 1tspsalt
Leavemixfor15minutes,andthenadd200gbrownsugar,orjaggery(asolidsugar).Slowlyheattogetherandsautéuntilthesugarisdissolvedandthickening.Thenadd:
• 11⁄2tspgroundroastedcumin• 1tspchillipowder(ashotasyouprefer)
Stirwell,thenwhenbubblesappearandtheapplesglisten,removefromtheheat.Youcanusestraightaway,butbetterbottledandleftforafewmonths,thoughwehavejustopenedonefrom3yearsagoanditiswonderful!Alwayswashanddryyourbottlesthoroughly,andusenewlidsifthereisanydamagetothem.Iputjarsandlidsintotheovenfor20minuteson120(orbottomovenoftheAga)andfillassoonasnottoohottohandle.

TheBraziliandancefestivalwasanabsolutesuccess,webroughttogetherover200peopletodance,sing,learnnewtalents,eatwonderfulfreshlycookedfoodandmostimportantlytosharetheirjoyforlifeover3daysofcampingandlivingtogetherunderthestars!
Itwaswonderfultoseeevenmorevillagersjoininginandenjoyingthehappyvibes.Wehavehadloadsofpositivefeedbackfromsomanypeople
YourParishCouncil’smeetings(itcoversChartridge,Pednor,BellingdonandAsheridge)alternatebetweenBellingdonVillageHallandChartridgeReadingRoomeverysixweeks(exceptAugust).Thenextmeetingisonthe13thSeptemberatBellingdon.
AlistoflocalcouncillorsisonthenoticeboardsatBlueBallAsheridge,BellingdonVillageHall(attherear)andoppositeTheChaletinBellingdon,oronourwebsitewww.chartridgeparishcouncil.org.uk.
ThisyeartheParishCounciltookoverthevergecuttingwithinthe30mphlimitsonly;wepayforthisoutofanallowancegivenbyChilternDistrictCouncil,outsidetheselimitsvergecuttingistheresponsibilityofTransportforBucks.
