The Basics Of Kiteboarding

Kitesurfing, also known as kiteboarding, is a combination of wakeboarding, windsurfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, and kite flying. Kitesurfers often use the area of the beach where the surf meets the sand, similar to wakeboarders, but they also can take their board and kite to deeper waters. With a simple movement of the kite, kitesurfers have been known to catch between 20 and 40 feet of elevation during a jump.

The Basics Of Kiteboarding

To begin kiteboarding, one must first step into a body harness that attaches to the kite. Once the special “power kite” has launched, the surfer must step into footholds on the board and brace themselves for the wind to go to work. Balance is the first step to master, and afterwards, learning how to control the kite becomes the main challenge. Once a surfer has mastered balance, steering, and control, kiteboarding is a great hobby that can last for hours at a time with little physical strain.
