Descriptive This analysis shows the maximum, minimum,

mean, and standard deviation of the variables

Linear regression analysis Linear Regression estimates the coefficients of

the linear equation

Level of Measurement

Different summary measures are appropriate fordifferent types of data, depending on the level ofmeasurement

!ategorical.Data with a limited number of distinctvalues or categories "for example, gender or maritalstatus#. $lso referred to as qualitative data. !ategoricalvariables can be string "alphanumeric# data or numeric

Nominal.Categorical data where there is noinherent order to the categories. Forexample, a job category of sales is not higheror lower than a job category of mareting orresearch.

!rdinal.Categorical data where there is ameaningful order of categories, but there is

not a measurable distance betweencategories. For example, there is an order tothe values high, medium, and low, but the"distance" between the values cannot be

calculated.
