Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 23, 2020
Second Sunday of Lent
March 8, 2020
This and That….
We are asked to pray for our men’s mission team that is in Jamaica next week to work at Jacob’s Ladder. We ask Jesus to bless their construction and their ministry to the residents and staff.
They will return to us on Friday March 20th.
As I write this two Rhode Islanders have tested positive for the Corona virus. Here at St. Thomas More we will dedicate ourselves to pray for all those affected by it in any way and for the healthcare workers who are responding. You may have noticed that the sign of peace (which is
always an optional part of any Mass) was omitted last week and will remain so indefinitely. I would ask you to practice prudence in washing your hands. You can do that at each of our
churches on the way in or out. There are additional bathrooms in Msgr. Halloran hall at St. Veronica Chapel.
There have been hand sanitizers at our church entrances for a few years now. Bill Murphy, our
church sexton is also cleaning the pews and doors of our churches with strong solutions each weekend and more frequently.
The construction on the new kitchen at St. Thomas More parish hall has just begun and should be done by Easter. The dividers for the individual classrooms finally arrived this week after
being special ordered last year. Once they are in we will be able to return some groups to smaller space uses in the hall and begin to better regulate the heat. Stay tuned.
Our Lenten Mission on the central topic of faith in forgiveness was a full house in attendance. If you missed the mission or want to hear the talk again log on to our website and go to Live and
Archived videos under the Parish tab. The mission talks are listed under special events at St. Thomas More.
Fr. Jose, our wonderful resident priest is off to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Mexico with
pilgrims. Let’s keep him in our prayers this week as he has promised to pray for us at this incredible Marian shrine.
Don’t get discouraged in your Lenten practices. The Lord calls us to renew and encounter his love for us!
Fr. Taillon
