December Meeting Minutes

The December meeting was held at the Chinese – American Buffet in Monroe, Wi. We gathered for the annual Christmas party, enjoyed a wonderful meal and then a short meeting. We discussed a

couple of important things during the meeting. The first one was an announcement letting everyone know that Donna Reese had fallen while visiting family and broken a hip. We all signed a card,

wishing her well and voted to send flowers from the club. We then moved on to old business. Dan said that he had researched prices for a new pan for the

clubs flat lap. It was decided that he should proceed with the purchase of one pan. Teri gave an update on Show Business. She said that there will

be 10 spots on the sales table again if you are interested in selling. We will be meeting soon to do the Fish Pond bagging, so bring in your donations

for the kids! She also had an update on the vendors. Then we proceeded to the election of

Officers. Marv Hanner, Debbie Wehinger & Linda Trickel were elected to serve for another year. There was a run-off election for Vice President,

Clay Schroll was nominated by the committee and Brian Green was nominated by Tom Getchel. Clay won the Vice President election. The last office was

also a run-off election. The office was held by Connor Trocke and a young upstart – Erin Trocke – nominated herself to run against her brother. Erin

won the office by 1 vote, with several club members abstaining. After the election of officers, we moved on to the very fun & entertaining Gold Brick Game. The Gold Brick prizes were won by: Dan Trocke – a beautiful piece of Chinese Fluorite; Jack Hoxie – a nice specimen of Poppy Jasper and Deb Wehinger

– a nice display collection of Shark’s teeth. The January meeting will be held at the Monroe Library

on the 10th. Clay Schroll is providing snacks.

News from around the club

Donna Reese sends her thanks for the flowers that she received. This is the message that she sent to everyone: “The flowers and chocolates were a real surprise. The lily-type flowers with a deep red vase add a special touch to the otherwise dreary room, and of course you know chocolate is a main food group in my diet. Please extend my greeting and thanks to the other club members.” Wishing all of you a Happy New Year. Donna Reese Some of you may remember our club members from Canada – Johanne & Normand – we received a great picture of their family and Christmas greetings to share : )

Finally, we have some sad news to share. We lost one of our life time members earlier this year.
