The AztecsDealing with Famine
By Jacob Cummins
A war Interrupted When Montezuma I
began ruling he made a campaign against the Chalca who lived Southeast of the Valley of Mexico.
The war was interrupted by a famine in 1446 in which locusts devoured harvests.
Lengthy Famine The famine lasted
many years. A series of frosts cast gloom and produced a wave of panic throughout the valley.
