Welcome to the August Event Sale hosted by Justamere Farms with consignors, Chris and Lori Warriner, Rick and Ruby Flicek, The Greg Schierman family, Bandura Ranches, Lonestar Farms and Justamere.

First I would like to thank the consignors for allowing us to make this sale happen and for bringing some great Angus females to town for this Event.

As you all know we at Justamere have held this August Sale in the past. All of these consignors are good friends and customers of ours. Chris and Lori Warriner have always sought out the best in genetics for their ever growing herd. Chris decided this spring early he wanted to have this sale and therefore let me pick from his 40 head replacement pen and he held nothing back, therefore we have on offer 28 exceptional bred heifers from the heart of his program. Rick and Ruby Flicek also are bringing a select group of bred heifers with very popular straight Canadian bloodlines as well as some excellent brood cows in the making. Bandura Ranches are partners in our Sale of the Year and wanted to be a small part in this August Sale with 3 fine females from their great program. Adam Schierman is a very energetic, knowledgeable, young cattleman and has selected some excellent cow/calf pairs for the sale including a great young herd bull at side of a great aged cow. My brother Lyal and his family Rose, Peter, Spencer and Isaiah have selected their genetics through many past Justamere events. They were happy to be a part of this sale with some excellent females. Their choice lot will be a sale feature. The kids, Shelly and I are very happy to be a small part of the sale with one excellent young female and 5 commercial Angus based pairs. As you go through the catalogue and the genetics on offer we are certain you will find cattle that will be a great addition to your herds. They are carrying service to the breeds great young herd bulls and AI sires. They are very much coming from solid dependable people and programs. I don’t need to tell you how good this beef business has finally become. We have all witnessed a complete turnaround in less than one year.

Folks stock your shelves, this Angus business is going to be very good for the foreseeable future, so take advantage of your opportunities. OF special note most of the sale cattle will be at Justamere from July 20 on till the sale on Monday August 15th. Please come and help us celebrate a great event with great cattle and even better people.

If Jon, Shelly or any of the consignors or sale staff can be of any assistance please call.

Thank you, JonFox

The Time has come, and that’s a fact!!! That’s the stanza of a song running around in my head as I write this. Yes it is time to spread the wings, or throw my hat into the ring and see what happens. We have been building toward this event for the past 12 or so years. The West Cowan operation is based in Big River, bordering along the edge of the northern provincial forest, lot of the pasture consists of bush grass and slough hay. We baby along the calf crop through the first winter with supplemental feeding of pellets or oats, after that I expect all animals to survive and thrive on pasture and hay. When the fields were small and the frosts came early, grain was a cherished commodity that was fed to chicken and pigs, cows ate hay, that was hammered into me as a kid. I still believe that to be true. Cows around here are not fed grain, the breeding program, reflects this, as I tend to pick animals that carry condition naturally. Heads up runners and mean cows are not tolerated. My first purchase of a purebred female was Early Sunset Missie 87H purchased as a

bred heifer in Jim’s “only the good ones sell“ at 14 years of age she is still producing. A measuring stick to which I gauge the rest of the females here at West Cowan. I did not go out and purchase an established herd, what I have done, in my consideration is a marriage of some of the best herds and bloodlines in Western Canada, with a few thrown in from south of the line just for fun. A good number of the original females were members of respective show strings, like the Favorite’s, Pride’s, Queen’s and Lady Anne’s from Jim Grants herd, Divinity and Lady Ruth from the Justamere and Cassidy from McRae’s. To these I have added a few other bloodlines like Tilda, Ruby, Barbra, Beauty. Also included in the line-up is a daughter from the $12,000.00 Exar Lady Rito. Those that follow the Justamere program will recognize that this is a ½ sister to the $30,000 MOJO bull and another heifer calf that sold for $10,000 in the Justamere dispersal. Also included is a daughter from Blackbird 7C06 a fancy show heifer. For our first sale, nothing has been held back. Jon was given the full run of the pen, after I had done my culling. There isn’t one of these heifers that would not enhance most any breeding program. The 125 head cow herd and a 1200 hive Apiary make up our operation. We produce annually 225,000 lbs. of quality Northern Saskatchewan Honey. The bees demand most of our time in the warmer times of the year. Therefore, we do not have time to AI, or the time to babysit late calvers. Once the Bee season starts the cows pretty much look after themselves. The Herdsires we have used in the past and presently, are proven, some with show ribbons, like Youngdale Quarterback 30p, Donwantu Balancer 465S, HF Taskmaster 71U. Add to these bloodlines from known sires like Diversity, Ambush, Widespread, and 8180 Traveler. You notice that these are industry leading bloodlines. With a basic history and introduction out of the way, I would like to welcome you and thank you for taking the time to go through our catalogue. In this offering, I do believe that there is one or two that could walk the show ring this fall. All the heifers were pasture exposed to Exar Spartan 0776B a nicely formed bull, with a light birth weight. He should work well with these females, any one of them could produce your next herdsire, and many of them will add to your future string of sale bulls. These little ladies will start giving a return on investment quickly. This sale started out as an idea to consign a couple of animals to the Justamere Sale of the Year. An invitation for Jon to come and pick out a couple of animals, turned into Jon picking 25 for our own sale, these heifers have been at Justamere’s since early May. With Jon fitting, Grant Rolston doing the pictures and Steve Dorran as Auctioneer, has added to my confidence on the quality of the offering. In closing, I would like to thank Jon and his crew and my crew, my wife Lori and all the other people that it took to make this event happen. If you have questions regarding any of the Heifers, please give us a call, before 8 in the morning or after dark is the best time to get us, and please talk to the machine, we will get back to you. We will be in Lloydminster, on the Sunday before the sale. I would like to thank you for looking through the offering, please accept this as an invitation to the sale and come join us for lunch, prior to the sale, we hope to see you on Monday.

Thank-you to Justamere for asking us to be a part of this sale. We started our herd with 10 cows from Saskalta and 30 from Double AA Angus, and over the last six years we have grown to a herd of around 100. Some of our females also came from the Justamere dispersal. Our herd is heavily influenced with strong Canadian genetics. We have been breeding our cows for maternal strength. The females we have to offer will fit well into any program. Please don’t hesitate to call us anytime if you want to stop by the farm.

Lonestar FarmingLyal & Rose Fox

Lyal and Rose along with their sons Peter, Spencer and Isaiah are consigning 5 excellent bred females from their ever growing herd. As many of you know Lyal is a very busy cattle buyer, but one of his passions is purebred cattle. Growing up at Justamere and being a big part of the operation gave him a good knowledge of the purebred industry. Lyal and Rose started their Angus herd with Justamere and Express genetics and have a very good herd of cattle. They dug very deep from the program to offer you their best for their first sale.

Lyal, Rose and the boys couldn’t decide which one of these awesome females to sell so they are going to offer the buyers choice on these show heifers.

Excellent female sired by the S A V Traveller 004 grandson from Limestone LLC. This heifers mother was a feature in the SOTY Sale last fall. We purchased this heifer with the intent to have our youngest daughter, Jorja, show her, but her interest is in sheep more than cows right now so we decided to offer her for sale. This is a great female with loads of future potential. Lady has an awesome set of EPDs along with a great pedigree. Bred to calve the end of February 2012 to Soo Line Durant.
