“BIG” Coffee Hour - July 2nd
We’ll have our BIG Coffee Hour July 2nd. If you are able, please bring food items to share
with others. You can drop them off in the
kitchen when you arrive at church.
Summer Sundays at Asbury
Dear Asbury Family,
July 2nd will be my last Sunday at Asbury before I take some time off to recharge my batteries. I’m looking forward to having some time to work on our house, to spend with my kids, to do some reading, and to start working on my second book. I’ll also start preparing for our God On Broadway Services (which means I’ll be taking a trip to New York)! I’m very excited about the guest preachers and speakers who will be coming to Asbury this summer. Among them will be the great Christian apologist and writer, C.S. Lewis, our favorite rabbi, Rabbi Robert Haas, and Rev. Sharon Risher, whose mother was killed in the 2015 church shooting in Charleston. Those speakers alone signal that the summer Sundays are going to be powerful at Asbury Memorial. And then there’s the music! We’ll not only be blessed by our own talented musicians and singers, we’ll also have guest vocalists and dancers blessings us in our services. Please invite family and friends to worship with you this summer. Another exciting thing that’s about to happen at Asbury has to do with rooms on the first floor of our Education Building. In preparation for our fall programs, we are in the process of redesigning our offices, our nursery rooms, and we’re also designing a room for our new “Godly Play” program. I’m already excited about getting back in late August to see and experience the new changes! If you are in need of assistance while I am away, please contact Randy Canady or Claudette DeLong at the office. Our Lay Leader, Preston Hodges, and our Congregational Care Team will also be on hand to offer assistance. I feel so very thankful to be part of this wonderful church family. I already miss you! Love, Billy

Two of our PKs (Preachers Kids) are in professional productions in Boulder and Hagerstown. Chelsea Hester is in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Boulder Dinner Theatre: http://www.bdtstage.com/. Course in Miracles Facilitator: Rev. Marilyn Leigh
Thursdays 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The Course in Miracles study group is dedicated to the study and practical application of A Course in Miracles to our daily lives. Our group allows the Course to guide us in becoming and expressing the Love that is the truth about us. It teaches the true meaning of forgiveness and challenges us to put God first in our lives.
A Course in Miracles is an open group; you may join at any time. The only thing that you need is the Third edition of A Course in Miracles, which includes the text, work-book, teacher’s manual and two pamphlets. It is available from the facilitator, Rever-end Marilyn Leigh or may be obtained from Barnes and Noble or as an eBook from Am-azon. Join us as we journey together to God, the journey with no distance.
We meet on Thursdays at 4:30 P.M. in The Asbury Memorial social hall. All are wel-come. Contact Rev. Leigh by email at [email protected] with any questions.
Mission Moments July 2017
Eleven boxes of vitamins and medical supplies were sent to Santa Domingo. These much-needed items make a world of difference to those living in poverty in the Dominican Republic. Thank you for all your contributions.
As we move through the month of July, groceries are still needed for struggling families. Your con-tinued support is greatly appreciated.
School will be back in session in August. Please begin to watch for sales of school supplies. The special deals that are offered are a great way to provide our children with learning tools needed to have a successful school year.
As usual, baskets will be provided on the stage in the social hall for your donations.

Chair Name Plate
As we worship on Sundays, how meaningful it is to see the name of a loved one etched into a nameplate on one of our beautiful sanctuary chairs. If you would like to remember or honor a loved one in a special way, complete an order form and turn it into the church office. Forms are available in the church narthex and the office. Please turn in a completed form to the office. The cost is $250.00. The funds are used for the upkeep and maintenance of the sanctuary.
(Two examples of nameplates for the chairs.
