FROM THE PRESIDENT’S PEN___________________________________ April 2017
My fellow Artists,
I have long been a fan of
PBS, but I’m going to put
the ‘s’ in WCArt(s), when I
tell you about an Extraordi-
nary production of theirs
charting the struggles and
rise of the authoresses known asThe Brontë Sisters, called ‘To
Walk Invisible’. I must confess I knew little of them, before seeing
it, altho no one could escape, I think, unaware of their works, ‘Jane
Eyre’, and ‘Wuthering Heights’, probably being the most famous,
which has had countless adaptations on stage and screen. I can’t
begin to tell you how affected I was by seeing it, and I now count
myself as a HUGE fan, eager to see more! If you missed it, it can
be viewed on the PBS website until April 9th.
Meanwhile, while we’ve been watching March roar in like a lion, and
out like a lamb, Pam has been ‘knocking it out of the park’ again
with our next speaker, Jeffrey M Green, colored pencil artist. A
glance at his website will be enough to convince you that he is an
extraordinary talent, and I for one, will be eager to hear what he
has to say! Hope to see you there!!
Your Prez, Patti
On Another Note: Put April 8th 4-
7pm in your calendar to go to Kathy’s
Kove East Art Gallery on East
Washington Ave., Washington, NJ
for an Artists Reception with a mix of
artists including Pat Olds.

~ April 13th- Colored Pencil Workshop by Jeffrey Green ~
On April 13th, artist Jeffery M Green will be
giving a colored pencil demo with WCARTS.
He will begin with a short talk discussing ba-
sic technique, showing some of his pieces,
and sharing challenges in his life.
Following this he will give a step-by-step
demo of how to draw a realistic eye with col-
ored pencils. Viewers are invited to draw
along in a workshop experience, while others
are free to watch and enjoy the demo if they
do not wish to participate.
Those participating are required to bring a
stiff drawing surface such as art board, Bristol
board, or a smooth or lightly textured water-
color paper. Artist grade colored pencils are
also required.
Prismacolor colored pencils are the mostly
widely available, though you may bring other brands as long as they are artist grade conventional colored pencils. (The
cheaper brands or student grade will not allow painterly rendering).
Any questions:[email protected]. 610-452-9132. website: http://www.jeffreymgreenartist.com
A photo reference will be provided as our subject. For those who are less confident in drawing in the time allotted, or
wish to get right to the colored pencils, a template drawing will be provided.
