At Multiexport Foods, smoking salmon is more than a process, it´s an art. This art form is only possible with the use of high quality raw materials and natural ingredients which are carefully selected through a painstaking process of culinary review. Within only hours of harvest, our salmon pass through a continuous flow smoked processing line, enabling us to seal a delectable fresh flavor. The tiny details and sensitivities that we honor during our smoked process, including hand trimming and deboning, shifting temperatures and applying breaks during the smoked process, make all the difference between smoked salmon and salmon which has experienced the Art of Smoking.

We have a state-of-the-art custom designed smoked processing plant which combines the highest levels of food safety control with procedures that enable us to maintain optimal levels of quality, delivering products which draw accolade from the finest chefs and pleases the palate of even the most discriminating connoisseur.

Multiexport Foods has been a leader in the development of the Chilean salmon farming industry and remains a frontrunner among competitors due to its quality of products, commitment to innovation, investment in technology and responsible operations.

In the early 1990s, Multiexport Foods was the first company to produce smoked salmon at a large industrial level. In 1995, we formed a strategic alliance with Mitsui Co. to catalyze smoked salmon exports into the Japanese market. In 2002, we constructed and opened one of the most modern smoked salmon processing plants in the world – in regards to technology, food safety and quality control -- which enabled us to strongly enter new markets. In 2003, we introduced our own brand, Aquafarms, to the North American market.

REsPonsiBLE AQUACULTURE

In 2012, Multiexport Foods was proud to become THE FIRST SALMON PROCESSING PLANT IN THE WORLD to obtain the Best Aquaculture Practices certifi cation by the Global Aquaculture Alliance. The GAA´s standards measure environmental and social responsibility, animal welfare, food safety and traceability.

2002 2006Multiexport Foods inaugurates its smoked processing plant and laboratory.

Multiexport Foods initiates its Puerto Fonck recirculation fi sh farming facility.

2007 2011 2012The fresh and frozen processing plant undergo major renovation.

Major investment in the latest high-tech equipment to increase plant capacity.

Multiexport Foods becomes the fi rst salmon processing plant in the world to be achieve the GAA´s Best Aquaculture Practices certifi cation.

In order to guarantee food safety, we run vigorous laboratory tests to ensure that we adhere to or exceed proper standards and compliance with our multiple food safety certifications. With our own on-site, internationally certified lab, we assure that every shipment is screened and adheres to the highest international health standards, import requirements, and certifications before leaving the plant.

Multiexport Foods is a certified company wide compliant with the ISO 9.001 Quality Management Standards, OSHAS 18.001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Standards and the ISO 14.001 Environmental Management Standards.

FooD sAFETy

Additionally, our processing plants have certified systems that assure the quality and harmlessness of our products: the Quality Assurance Program of Sernapesca (PAC), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certified by SGS for U.S. supermarkets, the BRC (British Retail Consortium) and IFS (International Food Standard).

Moreover, our microbiological and chemical laboratory is the first seafood processing plant laboratory in Chile to be certified ISO 17.025.
