The Apostles’ CreedI believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,and he will come again to judge the living and the

dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,the holy catholic church,the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,the resurrection of the body,

– 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

• How vs. Who

• The purpose of creation (and the biblical account of it) is to point us to the creator.

• What does creation reveal to us about the creator?

– God is really really big.

– We cannot fully comprehend him

– He has a purpose for everything

If there is a creator then...

• There is a God. And I’m not him.• Psalm 8:3-6

–3 When I consider your heavens,the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,which you have set in place,

4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,

human beings that you care for them?

5 You have made them a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor.6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;

you put everything under their feet:

– He is worthy of our praise and adoration, even our worship!

What about science?• Remember, the Bible is all about who, not

about how.

• God gave you a brain, use it!– It has been said that a little science leads a man away from

God, a lot of science leads a man to God.

• Every scientific law, every “proven” fact;the rotation of the earth, the water in the sea, the oxygen

in the air...all of creation exists as it does only because God keeps it that way.

Creator of heaven and earth....that means YOU too!

• 7 the LORD God formed the human from the topsoil of the fertile land and blew life’s breath into his nostrils. The human came to life.

• Just as with all of creation, you were created for a purpose.– What do you think that purpose is?

• Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. -Matt. 28:19

• To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ for the Glory of God.

• If you have purpose, then you have value and worth!– Remember the father who runs!

• The fact that you were created means that your life is not really your own.

– We are totally dependent on God for everything.

• Every breath, every talent, for having a

brain...everything is a gift...everything belongs to God.

– It is our privilege to serve the creator of heaven and earth with the money that belongs to him, the talents he put into us, the lives he has given us.
