Happy Easter, Good luck (and a calm, clear head) to those taking the CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer) test later this week. We are working towards another Steam Semi-nar this spring. In addition, are there other topics you would like for a half day (or all day) seminar? If so, please send those ideas to me (or any Board Member). Also mark September 28 - October 3 in your calendar to attend the 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo in Atlanta. Remember, direct flights are available from Columbus or Dayton. As part of ASPE’s mission to protect the health and safety of people around the world through the delivery of clean drinking water and safe sanitation practices, ASPE participates in the annual Community Plumbing Challenge (CPC), which is presented by the International Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH). Several of our members have participated in CPC events in India, South Africa, and Indone-sia, and we are proud to highlight their accom-plishments with our new webpage at aspe.org/CPC ICC A117.1-2017 Standard and Commen-tary contains the full text of ICC A117.1-2017: Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, including tables and figures, followed by the corresponding commentary for each section.

Ohio Board of Building Standards Code Classes
On January 26th, The Ohio Board of Building
Standards sponsored training on the 2017 Ohio

changes presentation so please contact me if
you would like a copy and were unable to at-
tend the classes.

CDC Publishes Legionella Guide
The CDC has just published a “Practical Guide
to Implementing Industry Standards” to help
manage the risk of Legionella within buildings.
The official document title is “Developing a Wa-
ter Management Program to Reduce Legionella
Growth & Spread in Buildings”. The comprehen-
sive paper is a great resource for building own-
ers, maintenance staff and designers similar to
ASHRAE 188. The 36 page PDF can be viewed
in the link below (or copy/paste into your brows-
er).

Building Codes Website
UpCodes (https://up.codes/) simplifies research
by putting all national and local building codes in
one searchable site and also updating them in
real-time. The codes can also be found per
state which is very helpful. Basic (free), monthly
and annual subscriptions are available. There is
a helpful video on the main page that explains
how to navigate the site and get the most out of
its content.

Upcoming Region 2 President’s Meeting Our Region 2 ASPE chapter presidents are making plans for the June 8
th and 9
th President’s
Meeting. Our host this year is the Evansville Chapter (satellite of Central Indiana). Chapter President Sam Schenk, CPD is finalizing the hotel and networking itinerary. If you have any-thing you would like addressed, please speak with your chapter president soon.
ASPE Conference Committee I will be attending the ACC planning session meeting at our ASPE HQ in Rosemont, IL April 12
th. It is also an honor to be involved in this
process. So much takes place behind the scenes to make what should be our largest, most successful conference ever, run smoothly. Our focus will be on the logistics of the trade show, what work is completed, what work needs to be addressed, what manufacturers, if any have not made a commitment yet and, most im-portantly, how do we get YOU, the engineering community to show in force.
ASPE Convention and Expo The ASPE Convention and Expo 2018 will be held September 28 – October 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Start making your plans to attend now. We anticipate more than 300 exhibiting manufacturers and suppliers as well as 4,000+ industry professionals from around the world.
Registration information is available to review on the www.aspe.org website. Registration will begin in mid-April. Early bird rates will end Sep-tember 28
th.
If you are considering running for a position on the Society Board of Directors, now is the time
to put your application together and get it sub-mitted.
Pre-conference events will include a Green Plumbing Design workshop, and a Women of ASPE Leadership Forum. You can choose to attend the forum(s) only or combine them with a full convention registration. I’m hoping all those attending a forum will choose the full registration package.
Since there is so much work to be done, that’s it for now. Thank you for taking time to read this article.
