free sites available, but this time Ithought differently because this issomething worth spending moneyon. The site I found iswww.mozy.co.uk.Mozy.co.uk is an online data backupservice. It is an automated onlineservice that records and encrypts allyour data every time you go online.Once registered and set up you neverneed worry about file safety again,there is no limit to the amount youcan store with them and apart fromthe piece of mind this brings, youalso get a lot of convenience too.You no longer have to backup on todisc so some savings in money, timeand space there and also youraccount can be accessed from anycomputer meaning you don’t haveto carry yours around with you. Anexcellent deterrent from having yourlaptop nicked. Mozy does not updateall the photos and files every timeyou use the system it just updateswith anything new that you've addedso the time involved is not evennoticeable. The charge for thisservice is five pounds a month,which can probably be written offagainst the cost of discs and storageboxes in a great many cases. If youdon’t feel the need for a service likethis I must urge you to backup your

files somehow. Computers are likeanything else, they go wrong andbreak, it is only a matter of time.Backup your files NOW before it’stoo late. I know someone who lostfive years of family photos recently,they are completely irreplaceableand it has left a family distraught.I feel all gloomy now so let’s talkabout something fun. He had over 40,000jokes sent in from all over the worldand 1,500,000 people rating them.He claims to have discovered theworld’s best joke, based on people’srating but more about that in aminute.The project was deeply scientificand Wiseman has produced figuresthat prove when we are most likelyto find a joke more funny and whenwe are not. He has surveyeddifferent countries to analysedifferent tastes in comedy.Apparently the best time to hear a

joke is around 6pm on the 15th ofany given month. Prof. Wiseman hassensible explanations for what it isthat makes us laugh and has evenstudied brain function with MRItechnology to find out "where" welaugh. It’s all very interestingreading and to top it all there's40,000 jokes on the site.According to his voting public thisis the best joke in the world;Two hunters are out in the woodswhen one of them collapses. MINDSET, ATTITUDE& CHOICE

As I continue to produce material regarding Tai Ji I thought it would be useful to broaden the approach and cover the role the mind

has to play in our lives starting with the importance of our attitude.All of the following comments are my own personal thoughts, viewsand beliefs based on my life journey and experience to date. Theyare my personal truths but are not the truth so please treat them asan item of clothing, put them on and see how they fit. If they feelcomfortable then great, if not at least you tried them on.To set the scene I hold the following three fundamental beliefs:• Anything is possible.• Everything is negotiable.• We all have the answers inside of us.The importance of attitude is well documented in many areas of lifewith the specific areas of sport and business to highlight just two.Being positive is clearly important. The concept of PMA, PositiveMental Attitude, is often referred to as a mindset of choice.“Is the glass half empty or half full?” This is a question that allowseach one of us to choose our response. Dependent upon which waywe look at life will enable only you to choose your answer.So for some people, to take a look at their lives and consider thatwhere they are at this very moment in their life is in direct correlationto their attitude of mind may well be a hard concept or statement toaccept. So let us take a look to how this may be possible.From the moment we individually chose to become independent andsteer our own ship or in other words fly the nest and lead the directionof our lives away from our parents or guardians.Our thinking and attitude of mind has determined both the directionand ultimately the outcome of those choices. It takes responsibility(the ability to respond) to accept these suggestions.Who we are now, where we live, the job or career we have, therelationships we share, are all a direct result of our thoughts, ouremotions and attitude and the choices we have taken.If at any point we are uncomfortable with where we are then who doyou think we have to answer too? Some people think the weather,the government, the media, our parents, our teachers, are to blame.I personally believe at every stage it has been me and only me thathas my life exactly where it is right now.By taking personal responsibility for our actions which ultimately havebeen a direct result of our thoughts then how wonderful it feels torecognise that it is us and only us that is the controller of our lifedirection.If we are unhappy with any part of our lives, we have the ability at anygiven moment to change it. Firstly in taking responsibility to own thatchoice, secondly in taking the necessary action and thirdly to checkthat based on the action we have taken that we are on track to wherewe are choosing to be or go.There are many people who can assist us on our journey and inparticular professional people who are qualified to support us on ourway. Maybe in terms of change of direction or in the process ofconsidering change then a life coach could be one such option.Alternatively there are many great books on the subject or for thosewho require a different means of learning, audio or visual tools likeCD or DVD could be helpful. Another great option is to personallyexperience a live seminar or workshop. For those who have a specificor general question I would be delighted to support you on your journey.Next month I intend to develop the subject further and discuss theconcept of life balance.

It was during a recentconversation with myMother that I was suddenlyasked “when did you get intoall of this spiritual stuff?” Myresponse was that I had

always been spiritual, but as a young girl didn’t really knowabout it. All I knew was that I was different from other children.I was very much a loner which of course made me unpopular inschool. All I wanted to be was invisible however, being quietseemed to attract more attention and I was constantly bullied.I did not enjoy being at home as there never seemed to be peaceand quiet. I would often feel the need to take myself off for longwalks through the park and spend long periods of time sittingon the swings, deep in thought, and there were times when Iwould play truant from my piano just so that I could have someme time. Looking back I suppose that for me these were mytimes of meditation and the times that gave me inner peace.Reflecting on my youth, I can recall many events that I wouldnow call spiritual.Since living here in southern Spain, I have had the good fortuneto meet many people that have similar beliefs. I had a lady cometo one of our therapist support group meetings last year, whohad recently moved into the area and was sceptical aboutwhether she would be able to meet like minded people. Shewas pleasantly surprised at the vast amount of spiritual peopleshe was able to meet in such a short period of time. It is forthat reason that personally my spirituality has grown, sinceliving here in Almeria. And more recently something quiteextraordinary has happened, but I will share that with you at alater date.Talking of energies, chakras, auras and orbs can sound like aforeign language to some. And for that reason, I would like toshare with you my experiences during my spiritual growth. Youwill learn of opportunities and groups available to you in thisarea for expanding your spirituality, developing your psychicability or simply meditating and spending time with like-minded people. I will also share with you my experiences ofreiki, crystal healing, past life regression, spirit guides andworking with chakras.I feel that it is the energy of the sea, sun and mountains thatattract us to this area. One of my recent reiki students chose tospend some time in the Cabrera Mountains the day after shereceived her attunement. She shared with me that, whilstholding her left hand out towards the mountains she could feela strong energy force. I love the mountains and the sea and Iespecially love my morning walks long the beach or paseo andfind that taking time during my walks to sit and meditate whilstfacing the sea gives me a huge spiritual boost and helps withmy healing ability. So I look forward to sharing with you myspiritual growth path. Fashions byPorto Bello who are located in the ParqueComercial, an accessory makeover by Ann Webberand swim and beach wear by Island Secrets, anonline company.There was also a Tai Ji demonstration by SteveBurton, wine tasting with Bodega Isalva,entertainment by Kay Francis and a raffle in aidof MACS. And all this for just 15€ per person.

The DOGS TO HOLLAND project, run by Puppy Rescue ofAlbox, continues to be a huge success. They recently received

this thank you and report from one of the dog’s new owners.Please donate to Puppy Rescue or visit their shop in Albox so

that they can continue this important work which placeshomeless dogs with loving families.

Scamp is really doing great!!! He is SO VERY SWEET!!! He listensvery well, loves to be in the garden with us and lay down in the sun(or shadow), he loves to be hugged (he's at the right place for that),loves to walk, is learning that he can play with things or with us. Heis so very happy, he shows us all the time his belly even if we onlytalk to him. We have NO regrets at all!!!!!We also go to a dog-training once a week, and Scamp is smart enough to understand what he mustdo. Now and then he has to be alone a few hours, and that was a little problem, but that is also betternow. He understands that we come back every time. The cat and Scamp are also fine.So as you can read: WE LOVE HIM VERY MUCH. Wish you all the best over there, Arjan and Petra.

The recent APSA coffee morning raised 200€ forthe Albox animal charity who run a successfulneutering programme as well as caring for manydogs. They thank all who supported the event, thestall holders and the staff of La Parrilla for theirhelp. The cup cakes were particularly tasty!!

Jacqueline Brown died on the 9th September in HuercalOvera Hospital. Jacqui had two children, Naomi 22 andJonathan 24, both of whom she was extremely proud.They were with her until the end as was her ex-husbandKevin who was a tower of strength to them during whatcan only be described as a traumatic time. It was theirwish that Jacqui’s ashes be taken back to England anda service to celebrate her life will be held in their villagechurch on the day that Jacqui would have been 53 yearsold. (19th October).

Jacqui came to Mojácar with her daughter 3 years ago and will be truly missedby her friends here, her pretty face, her lovely smile and her elegant manner, notforgetting her great sense of humour. The rain in Spain is all over the place!I suppose a degree of exaggeration is to be expected in all walksof life, hence for Recession read Credit Crunch, a term that isdeemed less frightening for the poor beleaguered Joe Public.Then there is Compact, meaning cramped, Lively meaning noisy,and what about Spending More Time With the Family, whichmeans getting the sack?I was voicing these opinions out loud while watching the rainfrom the lounge window when the Higher Authority spoke. ‘Whydon’t you stop grumbling and go and watch the television?’ Iwas about to point out that I was not grumbling, just expressingopinions already held by many, when I remembered that it isunwise to enter a dispute with the Higher Authority, especiallyif she is armed with a vacuum cleaner.‘Why don’t you watch the weather forecast?’ She could havedone away with the Why don’t you bit, watch the weather forecastwas as good as a Royal Edict.There’s always someone worse off, they say, so to cheer myselfup I tuned in to the good old BBC weather forecast, and wouldyou believe it - it’s a lovely day in the British Isles. YAKY - just loves to cuddle as he is a verysmall and sweet lap dog type. He has shownhimself to be nice with his kennel and play-mates. He is easy to handle and manage. Heis a charming fellow that really deserves anice and permanent home as we think hemust once have been very happy belongingto a family before he was abandoned atPAWS.

OLI - is a big and handsome dog with a lotof presence. He is super friendly with people,really enjoying human company and is easyfor his caretakers to handle. He gets on wellwith his large male kennelmate andplayfriends but he cannot be homed withsmall dogs as he does not get on with them.He is a clever boy and can even open doorsso he must be kept in a secure environment.

SANDY - was callously thrown from amoving car. As a result she sufferedpainful foot pad injuries which requireda lot of time and care to heal. NowSandy is well and is able to enjoy somequality time at PAWS with people whocare about her. She is one of thesweetest dogs we know with a soft andgentle nature. She is kind to herkennelmates and is easy for her care-takers to handle. She is a quiet dogwho doesn’t ask for much, just kindness.As an older dog she won’t need toomuch exercise and she also has an oldinjury that causes a small limp.

TAKO - is a typical puppy - playful and happy.He feels at home in his kennel, in his playgroupand hanging out with the staff members. He isan easy and well-balanced dog.

TIGER - 9 yrs of age, spayed. Naturally anxious at first ofher new surroundings is obviously feeling more settled nowand will permit us the odd stroke, be it on her terms! MACS Mojacar Area Cancer SupportCharity is holding a fundraiser on

Saturday 13th November inmemory of Brian Gower.

There is to be a Fun Run in the Palomares Bajo/Vera Playa area, whichcan be walked or cycled. Registration for the event closes at 2pm withthe walkers setting off at 3pm and the runners and cyclists shortly after.Entry fee of 15€ includes a high quality large size competitor's T-shirt.For the less energetic a number of Electric Cycles have kindly been madeavailable for a donation also, but need to be reserved in advance.Other fundraising events include sponsored head shaves (1 male, 1female). There will also be a disco and a raffle for which fantastic prizeshave been donated by local people and businesses.If anyone would like to donate their skill, time or an exceptional item tobe raffled, they would be VERY grateful. The next “Anglers Together” clubmeeting is to be held at the LosGalayos Bar opposite the beachfront, at Puerto Mazarrón on 9thOctober at 12 noon. This is not amatch fishing club but puts like-minded fishermen together. Bitlike our meetings here in theBeachcomber and we will have toorganise one for the end October.The River Segura in Murcia, theEden Canal stretch, fished wellagain last week. The water is lowand slow moving. The “Rods andReels” club match was won by“Stan the Man” with 22lbs. Mynew mate Dave with 18lbs and“Tony the Flower Man” also with18lbs. 1st and 2nd anglers wereusing sweetcorn and 3rd was onbread flake. All anglers fished thepole method.“Captain Brian Cuba” and hispartner “Admiral Phil” are backand a few of us went out last weekthe morning the heavens opened.We were joined by “Ham RadioKevin” and “Medway Chris” andall caught a few fish although wewere unable to fish the bottom ofthe 300 foot hole we were closeto. The wind kept changingdirection and we fished the sideof the hole which is usually prettyuseless. I fished with baited 2.0feathered hooks to try for biggerfish but the other lads were usingsize 4s and 6s and were bringingup to four fish at a time measuringabout 3 inches each!

Me and Chris got down to ourunderpants (To keep our otherclothes dry) in torrential rain to dragin 300 feet of rope, chain andanchor. I tell you even though itwas 30c with wind and beingsoaking wet I was freezing. Fishcaught were pandoras, combers,pickerels and bogues.My next trip out with Brian and Philwas with Chris again and “ThreeFish Richard” from Villaricos. (Usedto be “No fish Richard” lol) We hada poor day and only caught a fewfish and nothing decent.The following day I was again outwith Brian. We were joined thistime by “Inflatable Andy”, “Mike theWatch” and “Captain Paul Badger”who has a boat himself in Garruchamarina. Paul had been out the daybefore on his boat and caught afew very small blue fin tuna, doradosand an albacore. (The former andlatter remember have to be returnednow by law) All were caught trollingwithin 2½ miles of the shore. Thisday we caught dreaded weavers,(Brian got his fourth ever sting butluckily only in a bone in his thumb)pickerels, pandoras, combers anda black bream.“Captain Squiddly Sid” went out ofVillaricos on his new boat, “SuzyJane 3”, with his mate “Dennis theMenace”, they caught 15 triggerfish weighing between 2 and 4lbs.All were caught on the bottom inroughly 80 feet of water and baitwas raw prawn. They also caught afew combers.“Captain Hissing Sid” and “CaptainGraham Gnome” took their boatout of Garrucha with some matesand caught pandoras, weavers,triggerfish, pickerel, bogues, horsemackerel, a lizard fish and a 6lbbrown rockfish. Graham put thelatter back, although after I told him

how good they taste I’m not sure hewould repeat the good deed.

Fishing the sea bottom is difficultright now, I believe because of theexplosion of small fish close to theshore and why our prawn baits arenot being gobbled up by thepredators. Massive shoals of tinyfish are boiling on the surface andeven seagulls can’t be botheredbecause they are presumably fullup. It’s trolling time right now, smalllures on or just below the surface.Yippee! at last I’ve booked a properfishing trip with a couple of friends,my mate Steve from Bulgaria whofished with me on my last SouthAfrican trip, and Steve’s mate,Tony. We are off to Guinea Bissauon the Atlantic coast of Africa. Stuckbetween Senegal and Guinea it’s abit dodgy and there was a militarycoup only this year in April. Thearmy squashed the protests thatfollowed by saying if they didn’tstop they would kill the ex president,mmm nice.Anyway the fishing is fantastic andI can’t wait. Some of you mightremember it was somewhere Iwanted to go, as one of the firstBrits to fish there a few years ago.Since my internet enquiries thevenue was picked up by a specialistfishing tour operator, Richard ofworldsportfishing.com and he’s gotit sorted now with flights to thecountry via a stop in Lisbon.(London or Malaga) That’s brilliantbecause we were going to hire twoGambian drivers and a vehicle anddrive all the way and back from TheGambia. Richard has alsoorganised boat fishing which is whatwe will be concentrating on. 10days and 9 nights and I can’t wait,roll on March.Oh and flipping Robson Green hasgone and beaten me to it and fishedthere first. The programme,Extreme Fishing, should be onChannel 5 soon. Hope he does a

better job than he did with thattiddler River Ebro Catfish, the bigwoos. (Says me envious of him!)No news from “Baza Barry” or“London Bill” this week and I havenot received any other beachfishing reports.Remember that I have copies ofthe law in Spanish and Englishwhich allows holders of anySpanish sea fishing license to beable to fish another region’swaters. Although I know that witha sea license from any EUmember country you can fishAndalucian waters, I have no proofthat the opposite is true.
