the advantages and disadvantages of cd, vcd, vcr/vtr
DESCRIPTION
The advantages and disadvantages of the following some example of Motion pictures.TRANSCRIPT
Video tape recording (VTR)
- is a tape recorder designed to
record video material, usually on magnetic tape.
VTRs originated as individual tape reels, serving as a replacement for motion picture film stock and making recording for television applications cheaper and quicker.
1995 Panasonic D5 Digital VTR, model AJ-HD3700H.

Advantages of Videotape recording:
are so much useful in order to make children mind sharper during studies.
increases so much interest of the young students who are keen to learn something
A voice recording can be recorded simultaneously with the recording of the image to identify the object and to explain what is being shown.
A whole tape can be duplicated commercially, or with two tape machines.
A library of visible light and infrared images, similar to the libraries of x-radiographs that many museums have, can be easily built up.
It is easy to compare a “freeze-frame” image on the monitor with a photographic print.
Disadvantages of Videotape recording:
No hard copy is produced
Viewing requires a video tape player and a monitor.
During the infrared scanning process, the VCR
records the slight vibration and temporarily out-of-
focus image produced while the camera is moving.
Comparison between infrared images on video tape
would require duplicate tapes and two
monitors.
Video Compact disc or VCD
Also known as (View CD, Compact Disc digital video) became the first
format for distributing films on standard 120 mm optical discs. The
format is a standard digital format for storing video on a Compact
Disc. VCDs are playable in dedicated VCD players, most DVD-Video
players, personal computers and some video game consoles.
The VCD standard was created in 1993 by Sony, Philips, Matsushita,
and JVC and is referred to as the White Book standard. Though
supplanted by the two formats, VCDs are still popular, particularly in
the low cost market.
(VCD) A storage format used for film distribution.
What uses can you come up with for a standard compact disc?
1.) Store data.2.) Store music.3.) Store video.4.) Throw at somebody!5.) Play frisbee!6.) Play video games.7.) A backup dinner plate!8.) A very "reflective" wedding ring.9.) Demonstrate the mathematical properties of circumsribed circles.10.) Look at under a microscope to see the "pits."11.) Break for no reason at all.12.) Roll around on its side as a fun game.13.) Make the weird rainbows that reflect off the back side.14.) Sell to someone else!15.) Christmas tree decoration!16.) A backup mirror.17.) Reflect light off of it into the eyes of someone who's attacking you. Also works with burglars.18.) Use for a craft requiring a circular object.19.) Stack some when you're bored.
Advantages of the VCD :
VCDs can be played on more hardware than any other media
VCDs are easy and inexpensive to produce VCDs are inexpensive to distribute VCDs are region code free
VCDs are a standard format, so you'll still be able to play them in 20 years
VCDs are a good fit for school video projects VCDs are ideal for training video
Disadvantages of the VCD: easily damage. Un-removable save limited data.
DVD( Digital Versatile Disc)
-is an optical disc storage format, invented and developed by Philips, Sony , Toshiba , and Panasonic in 1995. DVDs offer higher storage capacity than Compact Discs. while having the same dimensions.
DVDs are used in DVD-Video consumer digital video format and in DVD-Audio consumer digital audio format, as well as for authoring AVCHD discs. DVDs containing other types of information may be referred to as DVD data discs.
a medium of entertainment and as a data storage device.
DVD as Storage Device - Compact and Useful
Compared to CD the DVD has more tracks since
the pitch is reduced from 1600 nanometers to
740 nanometers and redundant information is
reduced to minimum and hence the capacity
can go up from 700 MB in case of CD to 4.5 GB
in case of DVD. Also, unlike CD, the information
can be stored in layers and on both sides of
DVD giving it the obvious advantage in terms of
size and cost.
ADVANTAGES OF DVD:
Superior Data Storage
High density
Duplication advantage
The full length movie can be stored in a single
DVD and the quality will not deteriorate over
the time as there is no contact between the
disk reader and the disk.
Portability
Disadvantages of DVD:
It will take years for movies and software to become widely available.
It can't record (yet).
It has built-in copy protection and regional lockout. It uses digital compression. Poorly compressed audio
or video may be blocky, fuzzy, harsh, The audio down mix process for stereo/Dolby
Surround can reduce dynamic range. It doesn't fully support HDTV. Some DVD players and drives may not be able to read
CD-Rs. First-generation DVD players and drives can't read
DVD-RAM discs. Current players can't play in reverse at normal speed.
