Since 1981, SURVICE has supported
the DoD community, as well as the
homeland security, advanced
technologies, environmental, and
commercial markets. We have also
worked hard to retain the original
vision upon which the company was
founded—to provide the warfighter
with the safest, most survivable, and most effective equipment possible.
• Recognized leader in DoD Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability studies; Test & Evaluation; and Modeling & Simulation
• Recognized leader in metrology and reverse engineering services (metrology.survice.com)
• Recognized expert in visualization and high-performance computing
• Only SB with NVIDIA CRC accreditation
• Dozens of highly-competitive DoD research grant awards

protecting the nation’s
critical defense
information.
What is Metrology?
Metrology is not what a weather man does –that’s *METEOROLOGY*
Metrology is the science of measurementMetrology is defined by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures
(BIPM) as "the science of measurement, embracing both experimental and theoretical determinations at any level of uncertainty in any field of science and technology.“
SURVICE Metrology is focused on “Coordinate/Dimensional Metrology”, reverse engineering, and dimensional inspection.
We use inspection software, coordinate measurement devices, theodolites, GPS, laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radar, photgrammetry, videogrammetry, scanning devices, and articulating arms to provide Metrology services to our customers.

What do we do?
We “digitize” physical objects so that they can be used in computing environments – 3-D documentation, 3-D modeling, reverse engineering
We help ensure that products are made correctly, that they are built to match the design –inspection, alignment
We develop new and novel ways to visualize and utilize 3-dimensional models and data

Standard, Commonplace
Measurement Devices
Great – these tools work, but not for everything
What if you need to measure or model
objects at a much higher accuracy –
microns not millimeters or centimeters
What if you need to perform these
measurements much faster?
What if you need to take human error largely
out of the picture?
You’re going to need better toolsCMM Arms, Laser Scanners, Structured Light Scanners, Laser Trackers, etc.
Characteristics
Measurement
type
Individual points
or scan
Measure
components of
0.5 to 3 meters
Accuracy From 25 microns
Accuracy drops off rapidly for parts
larger than 3 meters.
Medium accuracy, fast,
robust, well proven technology
for smaller parts, easily
portable!

Faro Portable Measuring Arm
PORTABLE CMM / LASER SCANNER - FARO
Characteristics
Measurement type Noncontact.
Structured (White)
Light Scan
Measure
components of
1 cm to 5+ meters
Accuracy From 10 microns
Rapid, high accuracy point cloud
measurements.
Multiple fields of view.
Can integrate with
photogrammetry
BRUECKMANN STRUCTURED LIGHT SCANNERS
Knight’s Helmet Scan Data
STRUCTURED LIGHT SCANNERS - BRUCKMANN
And these tools give you great data
