receiving a nice lot of wheat this week at 90 scents per bushel Several of our young people attended the singing at Cool Spring last Sunday Mr A T Shirrell and daught- er Miss Florence attended the Association at Campbellsville last week and report a large crowd in attendance and good services i Mr John Yates made a bus ¬ trip4i to Glasgow one day last week Mr Albert Mercer and Frank Cobb two of Mill towns upto date business men were in ou midst a day or so of last week Messrs J F Pendleton and J A Diddle were in Louisville a few days the first of the week Messrs P C McCaffree of Columbia and W S Pickett of Ketlner were in our midst last Friday Mr WW Yates spent a day < or so at Edmonton the first of weekMr L Grady left here last Wednesday for Somerset wher- he is with his string of horses and will take in the Fair Mr Matthew Taylor of Glens fork in company with WL Stotts passed through our town 3 few days ago en route for East Fork Mr Taylor called in- to see your reporter and we are always glad to meet him for it goes without saying that he is riip on every subject Mr Cleo Shirrell one of our prosperous young men who is Springsin our midst a few days ago and reported that he was wonderful- ly ¬ pleased with the people at the Springs and was enjoying a good trade 4 CANE VALLEY Mr R L Banks wife and lit ¬ tie son of Richmond were visit ¬ ing the family of S G Banks last week- J J Banks the old reliable has been quite sick for the past two weeksMisses Maude j Emma and J Cleve Thomas of Corbin are visiting their sister Mrs Ed Hancock Mr James Coomer of Gresh am has rented Shelbyville was here to see his son Obie last week who is Cashier of the Citizens Bank of this place Mrs E C Sublett purchased a trio of trained ferrets last week from Levi Farnsworth London They are quite nice pets and fine ratters Robt Hancock who has been confined to his bed for the past three months is improving slow youngn man and we would be glad to see him out again soon Mrs Ed Hancock who has been sick for several weeks is improv ¬ ing Mrs J T Riffe of Southern Ala is visiting her father Rev WIS Dudgeon at this place v ROWS S X ROADS Miss Annie Voils is quite sick this week Rev Frank Turner preached his farewell sermon here last week Frank will leave for Dayton Ohio the first of Sep ¬ tember to attend school Good- r luck to you Frank Mrs Martitia Helm is lying dangerously We are having lots of rain the corn looks fine The Methodist Brethren are holding a big meeting this week at Mt Pleasant Church here Willis Higginbotom of Indiana is visiting relatives and friends here Miss Mary Hadley of Den ¬ mark who has been in bed for bee better Polly Ann the daughter of William and Elizabeth Hadley was born about 78 years ago professed t religion and united with the United Brethren Church 60 years ago Twenty years ago the subject of this sketch was married to Sam Floyde she was left a widow several years ago and has just made her home from place to place among her people Two years ago she fell and dis ¬ located her hip from which she never recovered until death set her free July 26 1907 She made her own plans about her grave and what to put on her then she said to those around her I am ready to go and closed her eyes in death and was gone Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord- ELLER f M E Tarter of Fonthill was hereon business Monday Rev Sam Williams of Mont
